Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating human resources related functions and procedures in support of the overall facility goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer general questions and inquiries in all areas of human resources such as payroll, benefits, recruiting and company policies within scope of knowledge.
  • Listen to employee concerns and provide feedback to functional managers to ensure corrective action is taken. Provide feedback on employee morale to Human Resources Manager, suggesting corrective action to resolve any problem areas.
  • Keep abreast of employment laws pertaining to areas such as FMLA, ADA, discrimination, or harassment. Coordinate the administrative functions of FMLA to ensure it is administered consistently within the act's guidelines. This includes counseling employees at all levels of its requirements, issuing employee notifications, collecting and reviewing medical certifications and tracking the amount of FMLA time available.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of state workers' compensation laws and the administration of claims within those guidelines. In absence of EH&S be proactive in case management through thorough accident investigations, attention to the handling of medical care, frequent follow-ups with injured employees and effective communication with insurance claim representative and legal counsel if an assist is needed by the EH&S Team.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Audit time and attendance records, maintain accurate records of employee attendance, prepare monthly reports and resolve employee questions regarding attendance record keeping.
  • Maintain training records, files and checklists/guides.
  • Maintain performance review records and schedule and send out monthly reminders to supervisors of scheduled reviews. Prepare updated master schedule for HR Manager noting overdue reviews.
  • Back up to job duties as assigned within the office and maintain current training in those job duties to be able to back up effectively.
  • Ensure skills, abilities and knowledge evolve to keep pace with changes in technology, our industry and specific job requirements.
  • Assist with new employee on-boarding and orientation process ensuring new employees are welcomed into the company in an appropriate manner, including facilitation of appropriate training based on position and individual needs.
  • Assist with general site-specific general recruiting tasks as requested by the site Manager of Human Resources and/or the Corporate Manager, Talent Acquisition.
  • Continually meet and exceed personal goals and objectives in support of departmental and business goals and objectives.
  • Assist with special projects, as necessary.
  • Other job activities as assigned.
Essential Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:
  • Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year or technical school or six months to one-year related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Basic employment law.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, governmental and benefit forms.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and to communicate with other facilities by phone and electronic communication forms.
  • Math skills used add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals and to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Critical thinking skills to solve employee issues within the guideline of state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discrete manner.
  • Basic computer skills including but not limited to a working knowledge of Microsoft office packages.
