CNC Technician I - Reading, PA

We have an immediate opening for a Quality Inspector at our 621 Brentwood Drive Facility.

Perform setup and approval to run CNC trimming work centers and responsible for operating machinery in a safe and efficient manner to produce a part that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Is also responsible for in-process inspections and making appropriate changes to the forming process to meet or exceed customer and Company requirements. This employee will be covering multiple shifts, depending on the needs of the business.

Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Communicate with the floor supervisor to understand what the priorities of the day are.
  • Use shop floor data collection system for various tasks such as logging onto jobs, logging machine time, entering daily production, locating/returning fixtures, etc.
  • Read and understand work order/BOM and Setup Sheets. Follow oral instructions to operate machinery and produce a part that meets all specifications.
  • Load and unload material/parts into frame of forming machine, die cutter, or CNC fixture for trimming. Remove, locate, and install tooling/cutting tools from machinery. Make appropriate changes using hand tools and measurement devices.
  • Post program to work center. Perform minor program adjustments and offsets required to manufacture products which meet or exceed dimensional requirements.
  • Take apart setups for completed jobs and performs setups for new jobs. A setup includes obtaining fixture; inspecting the fixture for damage or wear; locating and securing fixture; obtaining and installing cutters and any additional tooling; loading the program into the controller; verifying the machine calibration; producing sample parts for first piece inspection; and debug setup as required to meet inspections criteria and cycle time standards.
  • Submit trimmed production parts to Quality Assurance for production run approval. Perform in-process inspections of parts per procedures and take corrective action when necessary. Inspect quality of finished product and report any quality issues to Setup Person and Shift Supervisor.
  • Maintain fixtures and other associated tooling. Initiate maintenance assistance for machine repair. Perform preventive maintenance on machines, fixtures, and tooling. Submit tooling tickets for fixture repair or replacement.
  • Requisition items and tools for stock replenishment.
  • Assist with training machine operators to operate CNC machines, relieve Operators for breaks, and/or work in other work centers as production needs require.
  • Communicate issues to the following shift Machine Operators. Cleanup workstation at end of shift.
  • Perform all work procedures in accordance with safety standards.
  • Perform all work procedures according to established Quality Management & Environmental Management Systems.
Essential Skills:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OTHER: Tow Motor certification required. Previous experience with computers. Knowledge of the use of various measuring equipment including standard and metric scales, gage pins, digital caliper, indicators, micrometers, and height gages.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
