The City of Peoria has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Internal Controls Program Manager. The purpose of this position is to ensure that the organization's operational and financial reporting controls are effective. The successful candidate will perform professional level work of some difficulty and exceptional quality with minimal supervision, including assessing risks and working with management to help design solutions and analyze customer and business needs. The position is responsible for evaluating program and system effectiveness, conducting research and making recommendations for process improvements. The Internal Controls Program Manager supports senior leadership decisions across the organization to assess what is working properly and what is not.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • The ability to work with all levels of staff in a collaborative manner.
  • An attention to detail and exceptional time and project management skills.
  • The ability to identify root cause analyses for existing and emerging business processes and systems.
  • Experience working in a municipal or government setting.

Other Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public or business administration, or equivalent field.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years related experience. Requires advanced knowledge of internal controls and complex systems and procedures.
  • Preferred: Internal or government auditing experience and Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.
