Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies, and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash-handling responsibilities.Major/Essential FunctionsEmployees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before and after patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges and collections for clinic services, entering correct patient demographics to ensure filing clean insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies, prior authorizations, and referrals, and maintaining related information for the department. This employee will make patient phone calls for reminders, reschedule appointments, or answer clinic phone calls. The employee will have cash-handling responsibilities and must perform cash counts daily.Preferred QualificationsWorking knowledge of Cerner and CPM, EMR experience, prior experience working in a physician's office, and prior experience answering a multi-line phone system.Pay StatementCompensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
