JOB SUMMARY

The Records Clerk shall be responsible for clerical functions of a specialized nature in order to maintain the official departmental records of the Conroe Police Department. Duties follow well-established guidelines, methods and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent required.

Special Requirements:

Must type 40 wpm with 90% accuracy. Must pass written general knowledge and spelling exam. Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Skill in customer service.
  • Ability to listen, comprehend and apply information received.
  • Ability to understand rules and confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing using the English language.
  • Ability to work several consecutive hours in an office environment without the use of tobacco products.
  • Ability to climb stairs while carrying file box.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: climbing, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.

Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment. A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required. Safety-sensitive positions remain subject to random drug and alcohol testing after hire.
