DescriptionORTHOPEDIC PARTNERS JOB DESCRIPTIONTITLE: Medical Assistant (CMA)/ROT/ATC-L/EMT/PBTREPORTS TO: Patient Care Manager/DirectorGeneral Description of Work Performed:Provides clinical and administrative assistance to health care providers in compliance with all Orthopedic Partners policies and procedures; may have to assume the responsibilities of the Testing or Surgical Coordinator. Essential Job Functions: Achieves optimal public relations and customer service through positive communication; educating patients in all aspects of care; providing and/or reinforcing information and instructions; answering questions; assuring that calls to and from patients are returned on the same day and followed through to timely resolution; assisting in processing prescription requests within 48hours and follows established e-prescribing protocols Achieves optimal physician support by adjusting to rapidly changing work conditions; monitoring work flow in the Clinical Areas; keeping exam rooms full; utilizing Expeditor Light System and computer systems to maximize productivity and efficiency; prioritizing task completion. Welcomes patients by greeting them following established 'Rooming and Customer Service Guidelines.' Verifies patient information by interviewing the patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history per protocol; anticipating needs of the patient and health care provider by securing test results, arranging examining room supplies/equipment. Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations and procedures; using appropriate techniques; maintaining awareness of drug allergies. Functions as an assistant to the Providers and staff in theapplication,maintenance, and removal of splints, casts and other orthopedic devices; working within scope of practice, Works with Surgical Coordinators to process paperwork and review instructions for surgical patients. Follows established protocols for: 1) distribution of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and 2) obtaining Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN)for injections; keeping supply areas well-stocked, organized and clean; notifying Inventory Coordinator when a medical supply or DME needs to be ordered. Follows infection control policies and OSHA/HIPAA regulations to maintain a safe and secure environment; disposing of contaminated supplies; cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments; completing weekly and monthly quality assurance tasks and turning in the report in a timely manner. Initiates emergency procedures when necessary. Timely and accurately completes projects and goals assigned by Lead, Manager and/or Director; maintaining thorough communications with Manager/director concerning all aspects of the position/issues/work flow/organization. Position Requirements: Successful completion of Medical Assistant Certification program or related technical training. Must maintain current license/certification while employed. Strong positive communication skills, good clinical skills, orthopedic experience preferred; willingness to increase professional skills and knowledge. Ability to spend the majority of the work day standing, walking and bending; frequent lifting, positioning of patients Computer literacy; confidentialityObjectives:Provide continuity, sequence, and integration of services to all patients. Enhance and assure an environment for quality care and sound risk management. Work cooperatively with the Patient Care Team and OP staff to convey positive public relations and create a harmonious work environment.
