Job Description

Job Title: Custodian
Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Reports To: Director of Operations
Shift: Flexible, varies

Summary: The Custodian is responsible for the daily maintenance and running of the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for set-up and breakdowns.
  • Responsible for inventory and restocking of light bulbs, janitorial supplies and Xerox supplies.
  • Ensures that perimeter exits/entrances are locked at the end of the day.
  • Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the building and surrounding grounds (includes snow removal).
  • Handles pick-up / deliveries (outside building) and disperses all deliveries to the building.
  • Small projects (not requiring an engineer), i.e. changing light bulbs, moving furniture and equipment, etc.
  • Supervises JUG and financial aid student workers.
  • Available by two-way radio communications for emergency or rush situations and things that must be handled immediately or on short notice.
  • Assists engineers and staff as directed.
  • Participates in professional growth opportunities.
  • Is available when requested for overtime.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma and/or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Experience in an educational setting preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Practicing Roman Catholic, preferred
