**Position Title:** Prep Cook

**Position Overview:** Responsible for food preparation that meets or exceeds hospitality and service standards of the community. The Cook prepares palatable and proper-portioned food for all residents and guests in accordance with production sheets, standardized recipes, preparation methods, portion control, time schedules and sanitary standards as well as serving procedures. Prepare all foods to meet quantity and deadline requirements. Able to effectively manage all food production in the absence of the Chef / Sous Chef.

**You Have:**

Educational Requirements and Experience:

* Prefer two years experience as a prep cook preparing full line of menu items, but not required.

* Able to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions

* High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required

* Ability to do basic math calculations needed in recipe and production requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Willingness to work with the elderly in a senior living environment

* Requires advanced applications of manual dexterity and hand eye coordination necessary for the handling of basic kitchen equipment.

* Able to operate kitchen equipment and use utensils to greatest advantage.

* Able to work on all Holidays, and for pre-planned special events.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

* Works primarily indoors in a clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated kitchen

* Possible exposure to unpleasant odors

* Exposure to quick temperature changes from freezers to ovens/stoves

* Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual

* Continuous exposure to residents who are ill, confused, irritable and irrational
