Now, were a community-hub grocery store, that remains true to our progressive roots and good for the community ethos. **About the role:** Ensures an outstanding customer experience and assists with the coordination, execution and oversight of department operations and work. Prepares, stocks, weighs and packages Kitchen and food service department products. Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment. **General Requirements:**

**Position Responsibilities:**
* Oversees department in the absence of department management team.
* Guides the work of department clerks, including planning and assigning work, ensuring quality standards, training and coaching staff and overseeing their productivity.
* Partners with department management team to maintain excellent department conditions, including appearance, cleanliness, signage, staffing and service levels.
* Partners with department management team to execute training programs for all areas of department. Demonstrates ability to adapt approach to different learning styles among staff.
* Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays and events. Plans for weekly ads, events and holidays using tools and reports.
* May participate in other activities, such as inventories, scheduling and performance reviews.
* Builds displays and arranges department products to make attractive presentations, highlighting featured/unique/seasonal items.
* Maintains professional vendor relationships.
* Ensures customer special orders are accurately placed and delivered.
* Prepares Kitchen department for store opening and closing.
* Prepares, cuts, wraps, weighs, tares, prices and presents Kitchen department products.
* Stocks and maintains Kitchen stations
* Processes customers made-to-order items accurately and expeditiously.
* Assists with food preparation and production.
* Understands and complies with specific shift guidelines, tasks and responsibilities.
* Stocks, rotates and faces products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
* Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality, count and condition. Communicates any issues to management and merchandising team.
* Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
* Demonstrates familiarity with products in department and general understanding of culinary terminology, product labelling and common dietary restrictions, with willingness to continue learning.
* Follows company procedures for processing invoices, transfers and credits.
* Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
* Maintains cleanliness, organization and rotation of all areas, products and supplies.
* Responds to and follows through on emails and other communications in a timely manner.
* Notifies Assistant Manager or Manager on Duty of any situations relating to customer service, safety, productivity, security or any other situation that may have an adverse effect on the store.
* Tools and Equipment Used (not all inclusive): This position may be required to use the following tools and equipment: baler, hand truck, POS, industrial kitchen equipment (i.e. blast chiller, grill, knives/blades, oven, grills, scales, etc.), basic housekeeping / janitorial and standard office equipment.
* This position works at a Medium level. Required frequently and up to continuously to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift. Sitting seldom required. Up to occasionally, dependent on location, required to climb stairs, step stool and /or ladders.
* Continuously required to: lift and carry 1-10 pounds; use arms, hands and wrists; grasping/squeezing; reach at/above shoulder; reach below shoulder
* Frequently required to: lift and carry 11-20 pounds; bend/stoop; twist
* Occasionally required to: lift and carry 21-50 pounds; push and/or pull 1-40 pounds
* Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

**Physical and Environmental Work Space:** Work occurs in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise level, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures.
