Mechanical Engineer: Process Improvement and ManufacturingMechanical Engineer Job Responsibilities and DutiesAs an Entry/Mid-Level Mechanical/Industrial Engineer, you'll work directly with experienced engineers and project managers, playing a crucial role in the design, development and implementation of production systems, processes, machines, and equipment.Assisting in designing, developing, testing, and manufacturing mechanical devices, including tools, fixtures, and machine components to drive OEE improvementsTroubleshooting and proactively identifying problems, as well as developing and implementing solutionsDemonstrate proficiency at reading and understanding mechanical drawingsCollaborating with cross-functional teams for coordinating project activities and resolving problemsPreparing, presenting, and explaining proposals, reports, and findings to the team or project managersDefine performance metricsManage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneouslyPrepare project estimates, budgets, and timelinesOrganize and provide training for new equipment and/or processesResearching and analyzing the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of equipment, components, and systemsContributing to the evaluation of a product's overall performance, reliability and consistency, including participation in quality assurance processes that ensure the design and finished product adhere to specificationsTravel to customer facilities, vendor facilities, and other Silgan locations to support and drive improvementsMechanical Engineer Job RequirementsBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field: Manufacturing and/or Process Improvement preferred2 to 5 years of work experience or internships in a related fieldProficient in 2D and 3D computer-aided design and manufacturing tools (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc...)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAttention to detail and excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong math skillsAbility to determine internal customer needs to develop project specifications and scopeAbility to interpret and implement specifications based on customer needsAbility to design mechanical components, devices, and systems for manufacture and implementationFamiliarity with mechanical manufacturing equipment and processesFamiliarity with Lean manufacturing practices
