Ensures collection dates and times are accurate and processes specimens per protocol.+ Maintains cleanliness of collection areas and keep work areas Organizational and stocked.+ Orders supplies or notifies a supervisor if supply inventories are not adequate.+ Follows safety procedures and utilizes all safety devices and personal protective equipment per protocol.+ Ensures that all phlebotomists follow OSHA and other agency safety guidelines.+ Answers telephone, greets customers and provides consult and technical support to the physicians, phlebotomists, and nursing staff.+ Monitors and distributes faxes and processes add-on requests in a timely manner.+ Acts as liaison between the laboratory and nursing education or the clinic research phlebotomists.+ Ensures adequate coverage of the outpatient phlebotomy area and consults with a Laboratory Supervisor if coverage is over or under for patient volume.+ Provides monthly statistics or other performance improvement data as requested by the Laboratory Director.+ Approves and directs all breaks and lunches for outpatient phlebotomy personnel.+ Monitors and evaluates performance of the phlebotomists and provides guidance in determining goals and objectives for annual growth.+ Assists with training and evaluating competency skills for phlebotomy or nursing phlebotomy personnel.**Education:**+ High School Degree/Equivalent.+ One year college or equivalent preferred.**Certifications:**+ American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.**Complexity of Work:**+ All employees are expected to meet the standards of performance outlined in the Organizational-Wide Competencies listed below as applied to the position: World Class Service Orientation: Includes attitude, behavior, interpersonal skill, and problem solving that enable an employee to respond to internal and external customer needs and expectations in a positive manner.+ Adaptability: Includes teamwork and flexibility needed to fulfill job responsibilities including adapting to changes in work environment and accepting supervisory feedback.+ Efficiency and Effectiveness: Includes quantity and quality of desired work, as well as organization skills necessary to perform successfully.**Work Experience:**+ Includes adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines affecting the work environment, including maintenance of required competencies and communication skills.+ Managerial Responsibilities: Includes overall accountability for assigned work group relative to operational goals, personnel requirements, and budgetary constraints.
