Group Home Co-Manager

The group home Co-Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of the group home to which he/she is assigned. The Co-Manager is responsible for teaching and assisting in the development of each of the individuals receiving supports in the group home. Further, the Co-Manager is responsible for providing a home-like atmosphere and normalizing experiences for individuals receiving supports.

Essential Functions :

•Responsible for the day to day operation of the home in accordance with state and local standards

•Maintains a home-like environment

•Provides opportunities for individuals receiving supports to be involved in integrated community activities and to make friends outside the group home

•Carries out goal plans with individuals, as assigned, as developed and written

•Provides van transportation for individuals receiving supports

•Maintains contact with workshop and vocational rehabilitation to assure successful training and/or job placement

•Initiates involvement and maintains contact with neighbors and other community people

•Encourages individuals receiving supports to do things on their own.

•Encourages individuals receiving supports to make their own decisions

•Encourages family involvement

•Encourages interaction among individuals receiving supports

•Is aware of and advises individuals receiving supports of their rights

•Assists individuals receiving supports in handling money and making and keeping appointments (doctor, dental, etc.)

•Assists individuals receiving supports in following medication regimens by making sure prescriptions are filled and administering medications as prescribed

•Adheres to constraints of household budget, including grocery shopping

•Maintains records on each individual, including individual goal plans, progress toward goals, medical information, individual's adjustment, and individual's finances.

•Makes food and other purchases for the home and prepares nutritional meals according to the menus provided

•Assists individuals receiving supports with grooming skills

•Teaches individuals receiving supports about recreation and leisure activities and encourages and assists them in becoming involved in activities of their choice

•Teaches individuals receiving supports about household chores and grocery shopping and assists them in participating in those activities to encourage greater self-sufficiency

The position requires:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license of at least 3 years' duration
  • Clean criminal background check
