MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To partner with Programme Management organisation, supporting and influencing on clinical programmes through high quality financial modelling & analysis. Facilitates grant and funding administration, consultancy activity, general management, and monitoring of current and proposed trials. Lead Strategic outlook of business, contributes to the development of Strategy of department by partnering with Clinical leadership team.

Demonstrate leadership potential through leading team across areas of financial aspects of forecasts, long range plans, costs planning, accruals, operating expenses, and CapEx spend; tracking actual performance against budgets and maintaining up-to-date forecasts.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

• Apply broad expertise and act as partner and advisor to leadership and Senior Stakeholders in Clinical development organisation on forecasts, long range plans, actual performance, and mitigating risks to P&L and Cashflow while ensuring best in class relationship management. • Collaborate with leadership to aid reporting to the ILT, work with FP&A team to ensure timely monthly and board reporting is delivered to the highest standards. • Lead team and deliver punctual and accurate financial information, insights / analysis and reporting to enable assigned business area to make well-informed business decisions. • Contributes to Strategy development for Clinical function, work on extremely complex projects, create and assess business cases for clinical trials, support negotiation by performing financial modelling/analysis on investment decisions. • Proactively provide guidance to direct reports across areas of responsibilities, empower team to overcome obstacles and deliver to high standards. • Lead team into excellence, create development plans, arrange training, provide coaching to direct reports ensuring future career progression path. • Demonstrate leadership by overseeing activities carried out by team, ensure credibility, SoX compliance, audit requirements and company’s accounting policies. • Supervise tracking and consolidations for in-sourced and out-sourced Clinical trials. • In charge of relationships and lead monthly meetings with CROs and Clinical Project managers to review each trial. • Lead monthly close, calculate and review monthly accruals after meeting with Clinical trials team and CROs. • Ownership of financial impact of the Group’s supplier clinical external contracts, providing ad-hoc support at the pre-agreement phase where required to ensure Management and the Group are fully aware of financial obligations. • Point of contact for Contract Manager for Clinical in monthly meetings and help with reporting for CRO Change order negotiations. • Ownership of grants and funding for trials, keep track of spend and ensure credible analysis, accounting and reporting on monthly and ad hoc basis. • Deliver timely monthly reporting across P&L, Cash and Capex, delivering comprehensive, consistent, action-oriented reporting reflected through insightful variance analysis on trial expenditure. • Own and deliver forecasts, budget and long-range plans, by leading discussions, positively challenge assumptions and deliver trustworthy plans. • Contributes to the development of processes, ensure processes are followed by team and SOX controls are met for monthly close, journal approvals, contracts approvals and business cases. • Responsible for achieving deadlines for monthly & quarterly financial accounting close, SOX controls, reporting. • Key contact for Financial Reporting team to provide information for accounting close process (accruals, prepayment, adjustments) including SOX controls. • Carry out monthly reconciliation of GL accounts as well as SOX compliance. • Lead audit response, oversee submission of evidence, address audit queries within deadlines. • Interacts with Senior leadership in Financial Reporting team, ensure the accounting and planning systems are aligned with regards to trial spend and key cost categories. Ensure appropriate approvals have been sought from the Leadership in P&A and Finance Controllership for any changes. PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential • CRO or Clinical trial finance management experience in Pharma/Biotech • Excellent communication, collaborative and influencing skills, reflected through writing, presentation and discussion • Team management and development of direct reports • Agile, flexible and team mindset with a Can-do attitude • Able to lead discussions with Senior Non-Finance leadership and positively challenge assumptions • Investigative and details oriented • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel / MS Power point • Experience of using ERP/Accounting Systems • Proven track record of process improvement

Desirable • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or MBA with experience of working in a SOX compliance environment in US Public Limited company
