POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Director of Fund Development is a member of the Agency’s Senior Leadership team and requires a commitment to the mission of the organization. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and works collaboratively with the Chief Development Officer of the partner parent.

This position requires knowledge of both the science and art of fundraising as well as excellent verbal and written communication, supervisory, planning, and organizational skills. It requires excellent strategic thinking, creativity, and professional leadership.

The Senior Director of Fund Development is responsible for creating, executing, and managing a comprehensive fund development strategy for the agency. S/he will oversee the execution of the major gift strategy, annual fund, direct mail campaign, fundraising events, donor cultivation, and corporate/foundation relations strategy, as well as oversee relationships and donor-specific communication.

This position will also function as a campaign manager of the organization’s first fundraising, a capital campaign in its history scheduled for 2023-2027.

The position is responsible for continuing the effort to convey the Agency's programs, philosophy, values, goals, and achievements to encourage others to support the Agency with their time, talent, and financial assistance. The ideal candidate must possess a professional demeanor and a high degree of interpersonal skills.

GENERAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Director of Fund Development position is multifaceted with primary responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

· Creates and oversees the implementation of Fund Development Department goals/objectives, sets the department’s annual goals, and quantifiable measurements of success. · Promotes the mission, programs, and strategic direction to donors and the wider community. · Oversees the implementation of a major gift/donor cultivation strategy, and identifies and solicits major donors, including local and national individuals, corporations, and foundations. · Manages the Capital Campaign, executes the campaign strategy, and meets campaign goals · Develops a close and effective working relationship with the Board, specifically the Board’s dedicated Capital Campaign Committee, overseeing the Committee’s fundraising efforts as part of the Capital Campaign · Participates in regular Campaign Committee meetings and works closely with the Campaign Co-Chairs to develop meeting agendas and key takeaways · Oversees the strategic direction and execution of the annual direct mail campaign and special fundraising events · Works with program directors to understand each program's financial needs and goals and assists with any program-specific fundraising efforts · Oversees donor-specific communication: print materials, solicitation letters, etc. Identifies target donor audiences and develops appropriate strategies to reach the wider community · Works closely with the CEO, COO, CFO, and other department and program leaders · Oversees the Communications Department, its goals, objectives, and budget · Understands the agency's financial picture and adjusts the Fund Development Department strategies to meet the financial needs.

Competencies:

Experienced leader with at least ten years of experience in successful fundraising including capital campaign management Experience working with fundraising software and systems to identify and manage high-net-worth prospects Demonstrated ability/capacity for networking and being the face of the organization. Excellent organizational and managerial skill Goal and detail-oriented with an entrepreneurial and innovative drive Strong verbal and written communication skills with a strong emphasis on speaking and presentation skills Ability to work with and understand diverse cultures, backgrounds, and traditions in a multicultural society Computer literate with strong skills in Word, Excel, e-mail systems, and other appropriate programs Ability to support executive leadership in strategic goals, policies, and procedures
