Job Profile and Objectives The Jr Media Buyer will work with the in-house Media buying team to develop an integrated media strategy that best reaches our target audience. This role is key to meeting our business objectives with an emphasis on top funnel tactics and customer acquisition/lead generation in a multi-step selling process where a lead schedules an appointment before our services/products can be purchased. This individual will be a local TV specialist and expert, experienced in negotiating with local station affiliate representatives to buy media. He or she will manage media planning, buying, creative implementation, activation, reporting, optimization to hit KPIs and budgeting across all mass media in specific DMAs across the country, including but not limited to TV and Radio, preferably with some OOH, Print and OTT advertising buying experience. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for media planning & buying and executing against a detailed media strategy across 2 core retail brands that best reach our target segments, deliver on business objectives, and ensures alignment with cross functional teams for planning and implementation of TV spot buys Negotiates best possible rates to deliver KPIs, including influencing added value/bonus opportunities by brand Creates and updates annual media buying guidelines and goals, plan and budget costs by week & month & quarter to support sales goals of all retail locations, corporate and franchise based on a target A/S ratio Day-to-day contact with affiliate stations, managing the partnerships, leading status calls, and providing strategic direction and media goals that deliver on business growth; maintains vendor/station accounts and relationships; develops new relationships with the addition of new stations and designated media markets TV media expert in assigned local markets for media, localized competitive and target audience/demographics Develops and presents local market media proposals, researches new media opportunities and optimizes current spend for optimum results on a weekly basis Analyzes results for advertising initiatives and campaigns, evaluating performance and refining existing plans, optimizing media buys as able on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and basis Manages assigned mass media advertising budgets including added value/bonus across all channels on an on-going basis Manage media budget forecasting and actualization on monthly, quarterly and annual basis for assigned markets Execute, manage, and optimize media campaigns for new store/new market grand opening plans, partnering with Creative teams for needed formats/sizes and target/language alignment in order to meet campaign timelines Monitor media mix and media buys to ensure all brand safety, ad fraud, and viewability standards are met or exceeded? Monitor media for pacing, delivery, placement, flight date discrepancies, and negotiate weekly makegoods, credit or billing adjustments when necessary Always in the know on the latest media trends and industry changes, sharing best practice and innovative ways to reach new customers and introduce our different brands Responsible for the preparation of insertion orders and placement of advertising with media vehicles, as applicable? In coordination with Senior Marketing Manager, works day to day with Media Coordinators, who will assist with creative trafficking, invoice reconciliation, competitor research, budget accuracy per market/per media mix/per time period Help implement and manage media software platforms including but not limited to Strata/Kantar/Squad/Nielsen/AdIntel Skills & Requirements Analytical thinking, communication, persuasion, negotiation and research skills are critical to a media buyer's success Excellent verbal and written communications skills with internal and external stakeholders; ability to develop strong relationships with vendors Organization, project management and attention to detail Researching information from all relevant sources as needed for specific projects in terms of cost, placement, demographics and content Creative problem solving; assertive, positive go-getter Quick Learner, curious - Asks questions, loves data and can think about the business holistically Understands media mix as it relates to the market and audience, and provide creative timing, deadlines and direction?as needed Attention to detail, accuracy?and follow up Must possess strong negotiation skills and successful track record in the media buying space Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field 3-5 years’ experience in personally buying local TV media? Knowledge of mass and digital media? Extensive experience with media buying platforms & reporting software (Strata / Freewheel preferred) Ability to deliver executive summary presentations Technology: Microsoft Office software- Excel, Word, PowerPoint Experienced user of media platforms/tools including but not limited to: Strata, Vivvix Kantar, SQAD data, Nielsen or ComSource Ability to set up platform functions, standardized, custom automated and ad hoc reporting, working cross functionally with other departments such as IT, accounting, to enter data, or process information as necessary
