Job Description Purpose and Scope: The RF Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing wireless communication systems, such as radio, cellular, and satellite networks. They work to ensure efficient transmission of data and signals while minimizing interference and optimizing signal strength and coverage. Responsibilities: a. Prepare documentation of findings b. Perform network performance measurements on iDAS/oDAS, and Public Safety DAS systems. 2. Commission Neutral Hosts iDAS/oDAS/ and ERCES BDA (Public Safety DAS) 3. Track and Resolve customer generated trouble tickets/system alarms. 4. Manage day to day project activities which include: a. Maintaining a project schedule, c. Coordination with local government agencies and owners, d. Assist in the development of cost estimates, project bill of materials. (BOM) and compliance reports. All other duties as required. $80k-$90k/year Education/ Training: 1.) Associate's, or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience required. 2.) 2+ years experience in the telecommunications industry preferably in a technical role. 3.) Working knowledge of one or more of the following platforms: LTE, CDMA, 1x, EVDO, UMTS, GSM. Test equipment including: PCTEL, Anritsu/Rhode & Schwartz Spectrum analyzers, Linkmaster/Agilent data collection SW/HW, and sweep/PIM equipment. 4.) Have an introductory understanding of RF engineering concepts and principles including antenna, line, and RF theory, propagation modeling, and must show an aptitude and desire to learn in a changing technical field. oDefining the Project Scope f work o Understand requirements and obtain authorization to proceed from the FCC licensee. o Understand requirements and obtain authorization to proceed from the AHJ. o Evaluating RF Signal Strength and Quality o Determine and obtain test equipment. o Identify sources of potential RF interferences. o Grade and document RF signal strength and quality test results. o Understand System Design and Layout o Provide parameters for system design applications. o Validate selected system equipment (BDA and non-BDA solutions) o Plan headend (e.g., physical layout, structural, and architectural construction considerations). o Review and finalize system layout. o Validate bill of materials (BOM) o Performing Commissioning, Acceptance Test, and Maintenance Activities o Complete acceptance process. o Ability to represent MIS to the customer in a professional manner while on site. o Ability to lead and direct Technicians and apprentices in all aspects of DAS installation.
