Manages the development and administration of programs to ensure compliance with environmental, occupational health and safety regulations. Identifies and appraises risk conditions which could produce occupational injuries or illnesses. Evaluates potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents and classifies particular workstations. Compiles, analyzes and interprets statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents. Investigates occupational accidents, analyses their causes to prevent them. Co-operates with employees' council or labor union in the field of occupational health and safety. Ensures training for employees entering work areas of the organization.

Overall Responsibilities

The list below highlights the essential job responsibilities but is not exhaustive.

  • Develop and implement practical and compliant health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in line with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits in collaboration with manufacturing employees, safety committee and plant management to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety and environmental procedures, emergency response protocols, and environmental conservation practices.
  • Create and promote safety culture at all locations and develop strong working relationships with employees and supervisors
  • Manage and evaluate the effectiveness of safety and environmental programs and initiatives, making necessary adjustments to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses, analyzing root causes and implementing preventive measures to minimize future occurrences.
  • Create and assess analytics to understand the risk currently within the business or from past performance.
  • Maintain and update safety data sheets (SDS) and ensure compliance with hazard communication standards
  • Maintains all OSHA reporting and required compliance records.
  • Support onboarding and orientation safety training
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement ergonomic solutions, job safety analysis (JSA) and mitigate occupational health and safety risks.
  • Stay updated on relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and industry best practices, and communicate changes and updates to the organization.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, participating in inspections, audits, and permit applications.
Qualifications, Skills, Competencies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and compliance requirements including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and incident investigation techniques such as 5-why and Root Cause Analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, Certified Safety Professional, or similar professional certification preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in Health & Safety focused role
  • Proven experience leading others and influencing change.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • A proven problem solver, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Available for travel between Iuka and Ripley facilities
