The Vice President of Commercial Lending is responsible for maintaining and growing the Bank's commercial loan portfolio based upon annually defined goals. The primary duties of this position are to provide a full range of banking services to business entities with an emphasis on client contact, sales, and service. Incumbent will operate with various degrees of authority and specialization. Develops and manages lending portfolio and relationships to include commercial, construction, leasing, consumer and small business lending which meet the established lending requirements and provides maximum profitability to the bank with minimum risk.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Provides a full range of banking services to business entities with an emphasis on client contact, sales, and service.

* Responsible for the sale and administration of all banking services to include loans, deposits, cash management, etc. to all commercial clients within assigned branches and/or territory.

* Establishes and negotiates terms under which credit will be extended, including the cost, repayment method and schedule of collateral requirements and documentation.

* Makes sales calls with current and potential clients through personal calling efforts, branch referrals, and other means to discuss business needs and recommend ways in which the Bank can serve those needs.

* Develops an annual marketing plan approved by the President of The Michigan Region

* Responsible for the underwriting, proper analysis, and approval, through authority or LBT approval system, of all loans in assigned branches and/or territory.

* Resolves loan exceptions, e. g. outdated financial statements, expired insurance policy, missing loan document(s), etc.

* Analyzes complex credits and prepares clear, complete written and oral presentations with minimal assistance.

* Attends all Loan Committee and Sales Meetings and participate accordingly involvement in various community activities and organizations.

* Responsible for booking new and renewing loans, processing incoming and outgoing wires, draw requests, and loan payments.

* Collects and processes fees, and opens and closes deposit accounts.

* Ensures proper loan documentation is prepared and monitor and eliminate exceptions in a timely manner. Maintain adequate controls to ensure compliance and credit quality in accordance with Bank and regulatory guidelines.

* Provides effective monitoring, administration and maintenance of existing commercial banking portfolio in accordance with Bank's standards.

* Supervises the business development program in assigned branches and/or territory and prepares a pipeline report monthly which discloses banking products sold, potential prospects, and referrals received and/or given. Participates in community affairs to increase the Bank's visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.

* Makes recommendations for risk rating changes and initiates action to transfer identified problem credits to the Special Assets Department in a timely manner.

* Drafts commitment letters, if required, for loans approved by Credit Committee and/or Board of Directors within two days of receipt of final approval. Mails out adverse action or withdrawal letters in a timely fashion and maintains files on those applicants.

* Maintains file on assigned and generated clients. Ensures files are updated with new information and routinely purged of outdated information.

* Assists Collection Department in collecting past due Commercial loans. Identifies, monitors, and manage risk of assigned lending portfolio and develops and implements strategies in modifications or restructuring of credit facilities.

* Identifies, monitors, and manage risk of assigned lending portfolio and develops and implements strategies in modifications or restructuring of credit facilities.

* Performs all other tasks assigned.

* Completion of formal credit analysis training is a plus

* Mastery of the technical requirements of analysis.

* Experience generating and handling new commercial loans of $1,000,000 or more.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience commercial lending experience or equivalent bank related experience

* Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting MBA (preferred)

* Must be able to grow and maintain a commercial loan portfolio of over $25million

* Must possess strong management skills, understanding, developing and deploying people and their skills

* Must be pro-active and constructive in making credit decisions with ability to influence others with fact-based insights.

* Demonstrated experience presenting and working with Executive Management, Board of Directors,

* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

* Thorough understanding of credit principles.

* Knowledge of Microsoft Office
