SUMMARY The Fund Accountant I is responsible for performing various fund valuation processes for the calculation of the net asset valuations (NAV’s) of an assigned set of mutual funds or investment products. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Updates, analyzes, and reconciles all security trading activity received from the fund advisor daily. Ensures all fund transactions are properly recorded in the accounting system. Applies accounting and finance principles to asset types. Provides fund advisors with forecasted available cash every morning in a quick and accurate manner. Reconciles fund accounting records for custodian, transfer agent, and middle office daily. Prepares monthly reconciliations for other fund activity and delivers periodic auditor requests for annual fund audits. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Contact as needed with external business partners regarding general information, audits, inquiries, or reporting requirements. Collaborate with fund accounting, transfer agent, and middle office departments, as needed. May perform other duties as required and assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field. Relevant experience. KNOWLEDGE Accounting and finance principles. Stocks, bonds, options, and futures. Microsoft Office Suite. Adobe Acrobat. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Troubleshoots issues utilizing creative and critical thinking skills. Multitasking, analytical, and organizational skills. Participates in solving problems and making decisions. Demonstrates personal integrity, responsibility, and accountability. Initiative-taking, strategic, and meticulous approaches with a strong commitment to quality, efficiency, and effectiveness. Establishes and develops effective working relationships with associates and clientele during both favorable and unfavorable situations. Effectively uses resources such as time and information in conjunction with associates. Presents and expresses ideas and information, written and oral, clearly, and concisely. Modifies team and individual priorities and deadlines in response to added information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles and ensures completion. Actively listens to others to achieve understanding and supports an open exchange of ideas and information. Identifies needs, arranges for, and obtains resources to accomplish individual and department goals. Sets goals and identifies resources that are available for self-improvement and follows up. Equivalent education, experience, and KSA’s will be considered.
