POSITION OVERVIEW The Senior/Staff Engineer, Electrical Reliability reports to the Reliability Superintendent and is the technical steward for Electrical Systems. In addition, they are responsible for supporting system maintenance and improving these systems including all associated documentation. The Senior/Staff Engineer, Electrical Reliability will provide discipline expertise to less experienced support staff, maintenance, and production groups. The Senior/Staff Engineer, Electrical supports the Reliability Superintendent with driving continuous improvement within the maintenance and operation of assets to ensure the highest level of asset availability. The Senior/Staff Engineer, Electrical Reliability is expected to conduct RCFAs on incidents related to electrical equipment and provide recommendations. The successful candidate will be dedicated and have a high sensitivity to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) issues and shall ensure reliability programs comply with Company’s policies and procedures for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the terminal. This is a DOT position. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES The Senior/Staff Engineer, Electrical Reliability is responsible for the following: Serves as the electrical systems administrator and provides daily electrical systems support to the plant to keep the plant systems operational. Responsible for the industrial electrical systems from the field devices (motors, switches, etc.) through the distribution; from 120 VAC to 13.8 kV (which includes lighting panels, power panels, UPS, motor control centers, distribution transformers, switchgear, gas turbines, and diesel generators). Uses sound engineering practices, plant standards and specifications, ensuring that documentation for the electrical systems are maintained properly. Lead the development of documentation including updates to the unit operating manuals. Participate in the Management of Change process. Develop and use computer assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks and develop documentation. Serves as a plant expert on electrical system engineering issues and mentor the support groups (I/E Supervision and Technicians). Understand and interpret codes, standards, and regulations that are electrical related. Develops proposals for plant improvements including design basis and preliminary estimates and budgets for capital projects. During development and construction, support the Program Manager as assigned to minimize overruns in project-related spending. Reinforces awareness of safety and environmental incidents through frequent job observations by talking to personnel working in the plant. Responsible for developing or collecting information in support of permit requirements as assigned. Supports availability tracking and improving the overall reliability for Electrical equipment and systems throughout the plant. Supports Reliability Superintendent with developing and maintaining various contracts and customer service agreements. Responsible for analyzing work order repairs and failure data, pulling data for continuous improvement activities, meeting improvement milestones, developing performance trends, and monitoring for improvement. Responsible for conducting Root Cause Failure Analysis on equipment failures to eliminate or mitigate consequences. Responsible for evaluating the recommendations from the Electrical Technicians on predictive programs. Responsible for evaluating the work flow process, identification of critical spares, spare parts storage and preservation requirements for Electrical equipment and systems. Accountable for ensuring the safety, security, health, and environmental incidents are prevented through frequent job observations and assessments. Responsible for developing or collecting information in support of permit requirements as assigned. Responsible for managing contracts for the purchase of goods and services needed and ensures the contractor fulfills their contractual obligations. Supports the efforts of the Reliability Superintendent, Maintenance Planning Superintendent, Maintenance Superintendents, Maintenance Manager, and Warehouse Superintendent in developing equipment spare parts requirements as needed. The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge: Understands all facets of equipment reliability and importance of reliability. Understands the physical properties and safe handling practices of LNG. Possesses knowledge of governmental regulations and related technical and safety codes, standards, and permit-related reporting requirements. Applies advanced engineering knowledge, skills, and practices to rotating equipment from both an in-depth and broad perspective as needed; frequently takes full technical ownership of difficult assignments. Regularly provides technical guidance to others. Skills: Knowledge of CMMS Systems, RCA tools for conducting failure analysis. Strong leadership and administrative abilities are required. An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment. Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies. Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate, and maintain the LNG terminal and Liquefaction production facilities. Possess the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with 1) management, 2) peers and 3) the various facility level workers. Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines. Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. Accomplished public speaker, able to create and deliver industry-specific presentations. Computer literate including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Project, and PowerPoint. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. A Professional Engineers License is desirable. Experience: Senior Engineer, Mechanical Reliability: a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an industrial setting in engineering or operations. Recent experience with LNG is preferred, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable. Staff Engineer, Mechanical Reliability: a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in an industrial setting in engineering or operations. Recent experience with LNG is preferred, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable. DIRECT REPORTS No direct reports. FREEDOM TO ACT The Senior/Staff Engineer, Electrical Reliability requires minimal supervision. WORK CONDITIONS Job is performed in an industrial plant setting. Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends. Limited travel required, as business conditions dictate. Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, smell, type and write. Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200 steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighting up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities. Required to obtain mandated certification by attending Company-sponsored training in basic first aid, CPR, and LNG firefighting. Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) in good standing status.
