The Manager of Specialty Pharmacy oversees the delivery of effective care by taking an empathetic approach to patients on the usage of medications and awareness of drug abuse. The Manager of Specialty Pharmacy manages all medication, storage and preparation operations, while coordinating and implementing optimal medication management, quality service distribution, and ensuring regulatory compliance for specialty medications dispensing and certification and accreditation practices. The Manager of Specialty Pharmacy will ensure a consistent distribution of cost-effective practices, and patient-centered care that is seamless by collaborating with Providers, Clinicians, Payers, and Internal Pharmacy teams to support the continuous improvement and access to medication, while adhering to the needs of Health Firsts patients across the Integrated Delivery Network (IDN). Primary Accountabilities Oversees and manages operations of the specialty pharmacy, supporting the continuous delivery of accurate, effective, and efficient quality dispensing and patient support services, by overseeing medication preparation, handling, labeling, storage and dispensing. Coordinates and supports the organization of inventory for specialty pharmacy, by ensuring compliance with Health First Pharmacy service line policies and procedures for buying, and recommending and ordering merchandise from proper internal and external sources. Manufactures and implements frameworks to optimize procurement of drugs, inventory management processes, prior authorization procedures, and patient outreach practices, while ensuring adherence to Health First and regulatory bodies policies, procedures and compliance standards. Operates as primary preceptor for specialty pharmacy Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, and various stakeholders across the IDN, while overseeing management of competencies. Leads and supports the development of improvement initiatives for specialty pharmacy performance, collaborating with stakeholders associated with quality programs to advance outcomes and satisfaction of patients. Supports the coordination and execution of specialty pharmacy offerings with Providers, and clinical team across the IDN, assisting with goal and objective development that align with Health Firsts missions and metrics. Maintains and oversees the compliance of clinical documentation, patient records, and reporting methods, acting on improvement opportunities, while ensuring accessible services for medications deliverables (e.g., benefit investigations, co-pay assistance navigation, refile coordination) are met in an efficient manner. Contribute to and support the strategic direction, and demonstrate financial acumen, for areas of responsibility and organization. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree in Pharmacy. Work Experience: Five (5) years pharmacy experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Licensure: Pharmacist licensure in the State of Florida. Certification: American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR AED Completion Card prior to start date and maintained. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision. Strong critical thinking skills. Strong communication skills and professional presence. Ability to maintain composure in stressful office environment. Preferred Qualifications Education: Doctorates degree in Pharmacy (PharmD). Work Experience: Three (3) years progressive leadership experience in an inpatient or outpatient pharmacy. Three (3) years specialty pharmacy experience. Licensure: Consultant Pharmacist licensure in the State of Florida. Physical Requirements Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently. May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead. May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift. May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise. May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines. Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. Workspace may vary from open to confined. May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
