Associate Deputy General Counsel Needed - Cleveland, OH
Pay Rate: $50/hour
Hours: 9am - 5pm
Location: 2500 East 22nd Street, Cleveland, OH 44115
Assignment Length: 4-6 weeks (potential extension)

The Associate Deputy General Counsel will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to a wide range of legal matters and will assist the General Counsel, as needed.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Oversees and provides strategic direction to the negotiations, drafting and closing of commercial transactions involving a vast array of business, construction and legal issues
  • Supervises the Office of Institutional Equity
  • Trains, develops, and supervises the Associate General Counsel
  • Directs the legal advisement strategy for commercial and financial transactions, as well as governance, procurement, real property, complex multi-million dollar construction issues, student issues, employment, and land use matters
  • Leads the strategic collaboration with departments, programs, and leadership College-wide to develop and achieve business objectives while minimizing risk and ensuring legal compliance
  • Provides leadership and collaborates with other in-house legal staff, Institutional Equity, Student Accessibility, other College departments and the Office of the Ohio Attorney General and/or outside legal counsel
  • Manages diverse projects from General Counsel with support from Associate General Counsel, as assigned
  • Represents the Office of Legal Services and the College in the absence of General Counsel
  • Directs the training strategy regarding subjects of legal importance to the College and its employees and Institutional Equity (i.e. Ethics, Accessibility, Title IX, discrimination, etc.)
  • Assists and provides advice and counsel with Student Accessibility matters
  • Supervises support personnel in conjunction with the Vice President & General Counsel, as requested
  • Leads and/or participates in College-wide committees and task forces as assigned
  • Serves as a valued member and advisor of the College's leadership team
  • Serves on local, regional, and/or state committees
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What You Need To Have:
- Juris Doctor with outstanding academic performance
  • Significant related experience may substitute for education
  • Minimum seven years of strong demonstrated legal experience with a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Demonstrated track record of negotiating and drafting commercial contracts and working collaboratively with a legal department
  • Member of the Ohio bar
  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness requiring dynamic and analytical problem solving methods in a variety of situations
