Job Summary:

The Senior Inventory Accountant is a key member of the Finance organization that directly supports our corporate accounting and manufacturing functions. This role will also partner with other manufacturing departments to provide strategic insights and analyses. This role processes, analyzes and reconciles all production and inventory transactions related to external manufacturers (Contract Manufacturing Organizations or CMO's) and the Company's overall supply chain network. This role actively collaborates with both Supernus Finance, and Supply Chain and Quality to transact production batches and troubleshoot and investigate any inventory or production discrepancies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Processing and Reconciliation:

  • Work closely with the Company's CMOs, Supernus Supply Chain and Quality Departments and Accounting to appropriately execute inventory processing and movements within the ERP
  • Reconcile inventory activity monthly and agree the general ledger to the subledger(s) and relevant CMO Source Reports
  • Analyze regular CMO reports to identify production and inventory movement activity
  • Monitor and update the Company's standard costs annually, or as needed
  • Prepare schedules in support of internal and external auditor requests
Product Costing and Production Reporting:
  • Track and record monthly production and inventory transactions
  • Determine vouchered and unvouchered liabilities, assisting with the general ledger close, as well as strategic vendor relationships
  • Perform cost variance analyses on a monthly and quarterly basis
Manufacturing Departments Operational Expenses:
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly/quarterly management reports of operational results
  • Responsible for the management of Manufacturing Departments' operational expenses
  • Prepare schedules in support of internal and external auditor requests
Corporate Policies and SOX Controls:
  • Comply with and meet all financial close deadlines
  • Maintain compliance with SOX requirements as well as US GAAP and Company policies.
  • Other ad-hoc research, data analysis, department financial planning as defined by Management

Knowledge & Other Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required / CPA preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience - preferably within pharmaceutical or life science companies; strong desire to learn or familiarity with contract manufacturing and supply chain accounting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles including balance sheet and GL.
  • Able to extract pertinent data from ERP system or other sources to support above duties, comfortable working with large data sets.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Microsoft 365 or equivalent ERP system
    • Ability to perform account reconciliations especially related to inventory
    • Excellent verbal and writing skills
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Physical Requirements/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or carrying objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen, iPad, or other electronic device; and extensive reading.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
