A Civil (Transportation) Engineer III will be responsible for performing and directing Transportation engineering duties on multi-discipline design projects of moderate to large scope, and projects that involve only Transportation engineering.General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Performing Transportation engineering duties as a lead project engineer including analysis and design involving interstates and interchanges, urban roadways and bridges, site grading, stormwater management, hydrology and hydraulics, storm drainage systems, culverts, erosion control, and site plan preparation; supervising and directing the work of EI/EIT's assigned to the project; coordination with other design disciplines; leading the production of contract documents; and satisfying project budget and schedule requirementsWorking on a multi-discipline design teamMeeting with clients to prepare and validate scope of workPreparation of marketing and presentation materials as directedObtain guidance from Senior Engineers and the Department Head as necessary to resolve technical and coordination issues and conflicting criteriaDirect and supervise the work of EI/EIT's and CAD Technicians assigned to the project, particularly where unusual or difficult problems are encounteredPerforming Transportation services associated with the bidding process, including preparing addenda and amendments and opening and tabulating bids as directedPerforming Transportation services associated with the construction phase, including field visits, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawingsComplying with the company's quality control practices and proceduresWorking with, responding to, and taking direction from Managing Principals, Project Managers, Design Managers, Operations Directors and senior managementWorking with a multi-discipline team of architects, engineers, interior designers and landscape architectsParticipate in team meetings and coordinating efforts with other team membersDirecting, supervising and training junior Transportation staff as directedMentoring and monitoring the professional development of junior Transportation staffProject responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Perform Senior Civil (Transportation) Engineer tasks as directedPreparing scope and fee proposals for the Transportation portion of multi-discipline projects or single-discipline, Transportation-only projectsConduct project code analysis for review by the Senior EngineerPreparing accurate, complete, and code-compliant Transportation drawings and specifications for schematic, design development, and construction document submittals.Reviewing calculations and all work products produced by Civil (Transportation) EI/EIT's assigned to the project, particularly analysis and design assumptions, input data, and output resultsReviewing all drawings produced by Transportation technicians assigned to the projectCoordinate drawings with technical specificationsCoordinate work product with other disciplinesIncorporate responses to QC and Gray Team comments into the project documentsAssist in responding to RFI's, Owner comments, etc.Review and respond to CA submittalsPerform discipline QA/QC review on assigned projectsAdhere to discipline budget and scheduleEducation, Technology, and ExperienceGraduation from an ABET-accredited 4-, 5-, or 6-year engineering program in one of the following disciplines: Civil Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Civil, Environmental & Infrastructure Engineering, or Civil Engineering TechnologyPost-graduate degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering/ Transportation Engineering-related degree may be given additional considerationMust be a fully licensed Engineer in at least one US state, preferably in the local jurisdictionA Civil (Transportation) Engineer III should typically have 4-6 years of significant design and practice experience in a leadership role with a Transportation Engineering firm or a multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm and experience with analysis and design involving interstates, interchanges, urban roadways and will have a demonstrated commitment to producing correct, complete, and coordinated construction documents.NCEES record to facilitate licensure through reciprocity is preferredUnderstanding of sustainable design principles and design practices with LEED AP accreditation is preferredAdditional certifications such as PTOE are encouraged to reflect personal growth in the profession and an ever increasing knowledge base to enhance the design and documentation processActive participation in ITE, VASITE, ASHE, NSPE, ASCE or other related professional organizations is desirableA Civil (Transportation) Engineer III should be able to effectively utilize current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, accounting, and information management.Working familiarity with design and production software to a point of being able to understand the capabilities and limitations of the programs and interact with the support staff in their use of the software is highly desirable.Experience with grading, stormwater management, hydrology and hydraulics, storm drainage system design, culvert design, and erosion and sediment control plan preparation is highly desirable.Additional Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to prepare effective and concise documents and correspondences.Ability to make presentations to a
