Job Title
Buyer II

Responsible for the effective and efficient sourcing of assigned components and commodities, including but not limited to, raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and services. Responsible for meeting cost savings targets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze purchasing and demand data, prepare and run sourcing events, review bid proposals and negotiate purchase agreements and purchase orders within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Review and analyze specific purchase requisitions, investigate and develop sources of supplies, prepare bid specifications, issue bid requests and review quotations.
  • Purchase materials, equipment, supplies, and services of a specialized or complex nature in accordance with prescribed purchasing regulations and procedures.
  • Issue purchase orders and confirm with the selected supplier the purchase order number, quantity, unit pricing, shipping terms, payment terms, and due date at CoorsTek receiving dock. Proactively ensure with supplier on-time fulfillment.
  • Responsible for Supplier Relationship Management activities including but not limited to supplier reviews, escalations, SCAR management, contract, and price negotiations.
  • Work with management to forecast monthly supply budget and monitor closely to ensure that budget is met. Update databases accordingly.
  • Develop new supply sources.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory.
  • Monitor the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.
  • Resolve over-shipments or under-shipments reported by receiving.
  • Resolve any discrepancies between the invoice, purchase order, and receiving documents.
  • Ensure that the purchase order is closed upon receipt of all items or completion of all services provided.
  • Maintain supplier performance measurements based on quality products, deliveries, and services.
  • Periodically review all open orders to determine whether expediting, cancellation, or closure of the purchase order is necessary.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, and suppliers to determine source of trouble and initiate necessary corrective action.
  • Enhance material productivity through improved inventory turns, increased utilization of consignment and supplier-managed inventory, and improved payment terms.
  • Responsible for ensuring ongoing cost reduction and encouraging continuous supplier improvement.
  • Maintain manual or computerized procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance and quotes received.
  • Provide training/cross-training to ensure employees are in compliance with departmental and safety standards and are up to date with required training.
Job Requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering required or >7 years' experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Performs tasks utilizing advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Outlook, and Procurement software.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Target Hiring Range
Annual Salary: USD 63,600.00 - USD 81,500.00
