Description

Farmer Brothers is in the middle of huge Business Transformation, and we are looking for a self motivated, passionate Data Engineer to play a key role in building and maintaining the data platform to support transactional and analytical solutions. This person will be responsible to manage various operational data stores across the enterprise and integrate data from variety of internal and external sources into a common warehouse model, to support analytics. The role will require to have hands on technical skills to perform database design, data management and build data integrations. This candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to collaborate with stakeholders, including business leaders, end users, and IT teams, to identify, analyze, and document data requirements and implement the necessary data solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document detailed data requirements for IT projects and initiatives.
  • Develop ETL processes to integrate data from different sources.
  • Design and implement database models that would support transactional as well as analytical systems.
  • Create and maintain optimal data architecture to serve functional and non functional requirements.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines and data integration tools.
  • Analyze current databases, create new databases, tables, stored procedures, and optimize processes to meet the SLAs.
  • Ensure data best practices are followed as part of the implementation.
  • Act as a Farmer Brothers technical counterpart to third party technical teams
  • Troubleshoot various data related production issues, proactively monitor and optimize data storage, and conduct performance tuning on various data stores supporting the solutions.
  • Research machine learning models applicable to Supply chain or Food and Beverage industry to interpret complex data sets to provide insights into business performance and support data driven decision making.
  • Liaison with Information Security team and implement data security and compliance (Data regulations and standards) measures.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data workflows, processes, and architecture.
  • Collaborate cross functionally to understand business, data, and integration requirements to create and deliver solutions.
  • Developing solutions leveraging cloud-based data platforms and associate technologies, MDP architecture - Modern Data Platform.
  • Utlitizing Azure's analytics services, such as Azure Synapse Analytics, to provide insights and support data-driven decision making.
  • Contribute and provide support to Modern Data Platform relevant analytics innovation initiatives.
Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience as data engineer, with a strong understanding of database concepts, models, design, data warehousing and data platforms.
  • 5+ years of experience working in managing SQL Server databases.
  • 5+ years in ETL development
  • 3+ Year of Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Azure based data services.
  • 2+ years of experience with integrations with ERP systems, preferable Oracle JD Edwards or similar
Personal & Professional Skillsets
  • Expert level understanding of Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake and Azure App Service is required.
  • Designing and building of data pipelines using API ingestion.
  • Knowledge in Azure Databricks, Azure Data Warehouse, Spark, Power BI is desireable.
  • Working knowledge of Python is desireable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Food Service and Manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Self starter that is resourceful in achieving results.
