PURPOSE OF POSITION

As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, you will collaborate with the Product Development Team to successfully launch new products on the production floor. Utilizing your expertise in advanced manufacturing processes and technologies, you will ensure seamless integration of new products into the manufacturing environment, optimizing efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness, while prioritizing safety and compliance. This role requires effective project management skills to handle multiple projects with timely execution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cross-functional Product Launch Support:
  1. Work closely with the Product Development Team to interpret new product designs, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  2. Provide technical expertise and guidance on manufacturability during the product design and development stages.
Manufacturability Assessment:
  1. Conduct assessments on new product designs to identify manufacturability challenges and opportunities.
  2. Recommend design modifications or alternative manufacturing approaches to improve efficiency and scalability.
Process Development and Validation:
  1. Develop and implement new manufacturing processes tailored to new product requirements.
  2. Perform thorough process validations to ensure operational efficiency.
Technology Integration:
  1. Evaluate and integrate advanced manufacturing technologies like automation, robotics, and additive manufacturing.
  2. Collaborate with technology vendors and suppliers for integration of cutting-edge solutions.
Production Ramp-up and Optimization:
  1. Manage the transition of new products from prototype to full-scale production.
  2. Optimize manufacturing processes post-launch to enhance productivity and quality.
Testing New Products:
  1. Develop testing protocols to ensure new products meet performance specifications and quality standards.
  2. Coordinate with development teams for product testing and validation in manufacturing settings.
Safety and Compliance:
  1. Develop safety protocols and conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for new processes and equipment.
  2. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.
Meeting Quoted Cycle Time Efficiencies:
  1. Collaborate with planning teams to achieve quoted cycle time efficiencies.
  2. Analyze and optimize production schedules and equipment utilization.
Training and Knowledge Transfer:
  1. Train manufacturing personnel on new equipment and processes.
  2. Facilitate knowledge transfer between product development and manufacturing teams.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  1. Work with quality assurance to maintain high-quality standards for new products.
  2. Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with regulatory requirements using the EDP (Engineering Development Process) phase gate process.


Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field; relevant experience considered.
  • Experience in rubber and plastic product manufacturing highly preferred.
  • Expertise in manufacturing processes, automation, robotics, and CAD/CAM software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in quality management systems and regulatory compliance in manufacturing.
