Bethesda, United States Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Full time

Join the HJF Team

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

HJF is seeking a

Research Program Administrator

who will provide day-to-day administrative oversight and research support for the Suicide CPR Initiative. To function in this role, the Research Program Administrator will work closely with the Suicide CPR Initiative Principal Investigators and Management Team. Overall, the position will involve a combination of research program administration duties (e.g., assist with the day-to-day administrative activities in support of current, pending, and new awards; maintain overall program budget; place orders for supplies and equipment), AND scientific support duties (e.g., assist with the preparation and/or submission of research study documents, to include research protocols, supporting documentation, and/or technical scientific reports). The Research Program Administrator will work in coordination with the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology Program Manager and Henry M. Jackson Foundation personnel.

This position will be in support of the Suicide CPR Initiative, previously known as the Laboratory for the Treatment of Suicide-Related Ideation and Behavior, which was established in 2006. Dr. Holloway, the Director of the Suicide CPR Initiative, is a clinical psychologist and an intervention scientist who is primarily interested in developing and empirically evaluating novel interventions for suicide risk reduction. The Suicide CPR Initiative is strategically in a unique position to focus on the problem of military suicide, given its origins at USU and its established partnerships with the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs, as well as national and international collaborators and stakeholders. Overall, the mission of the Suicide CPR Initiative is threefold: CARE: To develop effective interventions targeted at reducing suicidal thoughts and/or behaviors; PREVENTION: To save lives through education, intervention, science, and advocacy; RESEARCH: To advance suicide intervention science and practice. Responsibilities:

Provides administrative oversight and support for grants and contracts; supports and participates in the planning, creation and submission of proposals and agreements; maintains archive of documents required to support pre/post award management. Maintains overall program budget; shares monthly financial information with the Management Team; and problem-solves financial-related matters in coordination with the Department Program Manager and the Henry M. Jackson Foundation Grants Administrators. Interacts with internal and external stakeholders, under guidance of other Program Management staff; facilitates flow of information between research staff, Principal Investigators, project sponsors, research administrators in the administration of agreements and contracts and research compliance. Performs research clerical duties in support of the program; e.g., assists with travel authorization and reimbursements; places orders for supplies and equipment; assists with maintaining and updating standard operating procedures for the lab. Problem solves daily operational challenges; e.g., handles maintenance-related tasks associated with space and equipment; serves as office point-of-contact for building management; completes and tracks Information Technology (IT) service requests; processes media service requests; manages, maintains, and routinely updates equipment inventory. Assists with the preparation and/or submission of research protocols, technical scientific reports, and other research-related support documentation, as assigned. Assists with new grant submissions and/or the submission of manuscripts, on behalf of the program; assists with formatting of documents according to required specifications. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Grants administration experience, including knowledge of organizational objectives, the federal budget process, and office automation. Experience in clinical or translational research, including knowledge of research design and methodology, IRB and regulatory procedures.
