Position Summary

This position offers engineers an opportunity to begin leadership within TMH's New Product Development Department where the primary function will be oversite of the team designing or testing mechanical components, systems or structures for existing and new material handling equipment. This individual will support and supervise engineering processes, procedures and staff through the different milestones of the development process.

Essential Position Duties

* Guide, advise, review, and approve the design, implementation or testing of mechanical components, systems, or structures for new product development and current production projects of material handling products and features.

* Manage and contribute in the review of technical documentation, including hardware and system requirements, schematics, drawings, 3D CAD, BOMs, DFMEAs, test plans and CAE reports.

* Review and approve the designs in CATIA or similar CAD and PDM software where applicable.

  • Develop and track detailed development schedules of the components, systems, truck development or testing requirements

* Lead cross functional teams during the development and testing process.

  • Plan, schedule and coordinate with other functional group leaders to simultaneously engineer and meet milestone design targets.
  • Visualize and communicate the goals for the team, and monitor and report in an open communication and visual platform.

* Collaborate with internal and external customers to understand the requirements and solutions needed.

* Facilitate employee reviews, coaching and mentoring for 3-6 direct reports along with improvement plans when necessary.

* Lead and participate in department Hoshin and improvement initiatives.

  • Ability to review and guide during the design or testing of mechanical or structural systems including fabricated, casting, or machining parts required to meet performance, durability, and dimensional targets.

* Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

* Additional duties as assigned

Education & Experience

* Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.

* 5+ years relevant experience in mechanical components, structures or system design.

* 3D CAD (CATIA preferred) and PDM system experience preferred

  • Project management or project leadership experience preferred
  • Development or testing experience with Material Handling equipment

May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files, computer printouts on occasion. Frequent use of computer and telephone.

Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
