The EMT EVO is part of the critical care team working with UMMC paramedics and nurses to serve as emergency vehicle operators stationed at Maryland Express Care offices in Baltimore, Easton, and Aberdeen. The EMT EVO is responsible for assisting the UMMS care team in transporting patients to medical facilities for further treatment. EMT EVOs are an integral part of the healthcare system, provide critical care during emergencies and make a significant impact on patient's lives. The role of the EMT EVO demands excellent emergency vehicle operator skills, quick thinking, compassion, and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver timely and effective pre-hospital care. RequirementsRoles and ResponsibilitiesProvide excellent patient care within the scope of practice of an EMT EVOProvide safe transport of the patient and crewRespond to emergent and non-emergent transports Provides effective communication with patients, dispatch, crews, family members, and facility staffAbility operation communication devices; portable radio, cell phone, computer tabletCompletion of patient contact reports prior to shift completionEnsure maintenance of vehicles and equipment for transport readinessMaintain cleanliness of station Maintain certifications with timely completion of refresher courses and CMEsRemain current on all state protocols, policies, and/or procedures Represent BMT at community events as assigned Qualifications and Education RequirementsGraduation From High School or equivalent19 years old at time of hire for insurance purposesCurrent NREMT EVO and State EMT EVO (or ability to obtain with in 10 days of hire)Two years of EMT experienceTwo years of EVO experience with one year being on an ALS critical care teamCurrent AHA BLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire Ability to provide quality patient care within scope of practiceKnowledge of all state protocols for an EMT EVOValid driver's licenseAbility to drive company vehicles with a clean driving recordSuccessful completion of a state sponsored EVOC course or ability to obtain in 90 daysAbility to pass a lift test of 150 - 200 poundsAbility to pass a pre-employment drug testAbility to pass a pre-employment background checkAbility to speak and write English Preferred SkillsExcellent customer service skillsKnowledge of medical terminology and writing patient care reportsProblem solvingAbility to remain calm under pressurePrevious EMS experience Salary Description $25- $30 an hour including differential & bonuses
