Job DetailsJob LocationVNC - Vancouver, WAPosition TypeFull TimeEducation LevelHigh SchoolSalary Range$23.00 - $27.00 HourlyTravel PercentageNoneJob ShiftAnyJob CategoryManufacturingDescriptionSummaryProduces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies, other duties may be assigned occasionally.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Actively participate in Seaport Steel's Safety Program.Plans by studying work orders, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine the amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders; and verifying stock receipts.Loads steel plate stock on the burning table.Download programs for parts burning.Utilize proper tips, torch spacing, fuel setting, and material utilization.Use a gantry-style thermal cutting machine capable of plasma and oxyfuel cutting, powder marking, and beveling.Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to standards.Maintains specifications by observing, and cutting, including taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; and calling for repairs.Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; and reading technical publications.Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.QualificationsCompetencyTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Education and ExperienceA High School degree, 2 plus years related experience and./or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Quality of WorkProduces an appropriate quantity of work; does not get bogged down by unnecessary detail; able to manage multiple projects; able to determine project urgency in a meaningful and practical way; organizes and schedules people and tasks.CommunicationWrites and speaks effectively, states own opinions clearly and concisely; demonstrates openness and honesty; and uses consideration and tact when offering opinions.Problem-SolvingAnticipates problems; sees how a problem and its solution will affect other departments; gathers information before making decisions; weighs alternatives against objectives and arrives at reasonable decisions; adapts to changing priorities, deadlines, and directions; able to eliminate processes that do not add value; notifies supervisor of problems promptly.Attention to DetailFollows detailed procedures and ensures accuracy in documentation and data; carefully monitors gauges and processes; concentrates on routine work details; organizes and maintains documents and records.Math AbilityHas the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, fractions, and decimals.Computer SkillsAble to demonstrate the ability to utilize Microsoft Office and Internet ExploreMachine SkillsMachine knowledgeCNC plasma and oxyfuel cutting table.Global Controller
