Job Function

Reporting into the Sr. EHS Specialist, the EHS Specialist will be based out of Houston, TX (our Vickery Rd Site) and will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and support the implementation of the EHS program.
  • Develop and maintain an effective system for documenting and communicating EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with plant managers and supervisors to identify and address EHS concerns and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and assessments to monitor compliance with EHS regulations and internal policies.
  • Track and analyze EHS data, including incident reports, near-miss incidents, and safety performance indicators, to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay up to date with local, state, and federal EHS regulations applicable to our industry and ensure compliance.
  • Assist in obtaining and maintaining necessary permits, licenses, and certifications related to EHS activities.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, and provide necessary documentation and reports.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, ensuring they are well-informed about safety procedures, regulations, and best practices.
  • Organize and conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and workshops to enhance safety awareness and engagement.
  • Collaborate with HR and site managers to integrate EHS requirements into onboarding processes for new hires.
  • Lead and facilitate incident investigations to determine root causes, contributing factors, and preventive measures.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and follow up on corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain incident records and conduct trend analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency plans and ensure employee preparedness.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/equivalency + 2-5 years of practical experience in on-site floor safety.
  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent years of direct relevant experience
  • Proven experience in EHS coordination or related roles within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations and standards.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in using EHS software and other relevant tools.
Preferred Experience
  • Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) are preferred.
