- Job Function- Reporting into the EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist will be based out of Houston, TX and will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety.- Responsibilities- Coordinate and support the implementation of the EHS program.
- Develop and maintain an effective system for documenting and communicating EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Collaborate with plant managers and supervisors to identify and address EHS concerns and develop appropriate solutions.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and assessments to monitor compliance with EHS regulations and internal policies.
- Track and analyze EHS data, including incident reports, near-miss incidents, and safety performance indicators, to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Stay up to date with local, state, and federal EHS regulations applicable to our industry and ensure compliance.
- Assist in obtaining and maintaining necessary permits, licenses, and certifications related to EHS activities.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, and provide necessary documentation and reports.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, ensuring they are well-informed about safety procedures, regulations, and best practices.
- Organize and conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and workshops to enhance safety awareness and engagement.
- Collaborate with HR and site managers to integrate EHS requirements into onboarding processes for new hires.
- Lead and facilitate incident investigations to determine root causes, contributing factors, and preventive measures.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and follow up on corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain incident records and conduct trend analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures.
- Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency plans and ensure employee preparedness.
- Required Experience- High school diploma/equivalency + 2-5 years of practical experience in on-site floor safety.
- Proven experience in EHS coordination or related roles within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations and standards.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using EHS software and other relevant tools.
- Preferred Experience- Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) are preferred.
