Staff Software Engineer, Ecosystem
Bubble is a revolutionary software development platform with a simple mission: make technology accessible to everyone and help people bring their ideas to life. Rather than specializing in one or two aspects of web development, Bubble’s full-stack visual programming interface does it all, allowing you to customize your UX with a drag-and-drop editor, build out logic, manage databases, and integrate with anything via plugins and API. With all the tools needed to build a site like Facebook or Airbnb, anyone from first-time entrepreneurs to enterprise-level companies can take an idea from concept to fully functional, scalable reality faster and cheaper than you could with just code. As the only full-stack, no-code platform on the market with over 3 million users in over 100 countries, Bubble is breaking down the barriers to entrepreneurship and innovation across the globe. About The Role We are looking for a staff engineer to be the first engineering hire on our ecosystem team. This leader will establish the technical vision for our integrations platform and build towards that vision in collaboration with our team of Bubble Developers, product, design, and marketing. We are looking for someone excited to be hands-on building the foundations and delivering value to our users, who can later transition into leading a team of engineers down the line. The mission of our ecosystem team is to create a thriving ecosystem of products and services that extend Bubble’s native functionality and inspire community-driven Bubble development. This engineering hire will help us further empower Bubble Developers by strengthening existing ecosystem products and services and creating new sources of extensibility (for instance, via developing new APIs and new types of user-creatable components) to multiply the impact of our product. In This Role, You’ll Problem solving – building an editor and runtime for application development is considerably more complicated than directly building applications. In this role, you’ll own some of our core language abstractions around extensibility and plugability. Driving codebase improvement – Bubble’s codebase dates back to 2012, and we are looking for a hire who enjoys the process of modernizing complex legacy systems. Delivering value to users – the product surface area our ecosystem team supports makes a huge difference in the day-to-day of passionate Bubble Developers, and you’ll have the opportunity to ship lots of high impact features that our community will be cheering for. Mentorship and communication – at Bubble, staff engineers aren’t just great technologists, they’re leaders who collaborate across the company and help their teammates improve as engineers. Product strategy – partner with product managers, our partnerships and marketing teams, leadership, and other engineers to deliver results for Bubble as a whole. Technical innovation – help us push the envelope of how easy and fast it is to extend Bubble’s capabilities, both with code and without About You Most qualified candidates will be a current staff/principal engineer, tech lead, engineering manager, or very experienced senior engineer. Experience building APIs and integrations and creating abstractions for programming languages is preferred, but not required. While no specific technologies are a hard requirement, we value prior experience with typescript, node, and full-stack web development. Experience as a mentor or manager is required. Our Tech Stack While we do not require new hires to be experts in our tech stack on day 1, familiarity and a willingness to learn fast is helpful. Our tech stack includes: Frontend: Typescript, SolidJS Backend: Typescript, Node.js, Rust, Redis, Postgres, TimescaleDB Infrastructure: AWS - CDK / Terraform / Lambda, Kafka, ECS, Typescript, Elastic Location For this role, Bubble is currently only considering candidates who are authorized to work in the US and are within the New York City metro area. We will provide relocation assistance to those who are interested in moving to the NYC area. Benefits In addition to cash and equity compensation, Bubble offers a robust benefits package equating to roughly $20,000 in additional annual compensation: Comprehensive health coverage 401(k) Matching Wellness and Work Enablement stipends Flexible PTO A Sabbatical program Generous relocation package for those looking to move to NYC Join us, and let’s democratize access to technology together If this sounds like you, apply If you don’t meet all of the qualifications but think you could be a match, we’d still love the chance to review your application. At Bubble, we encourage people from all ages, abilities, and experiences to apply. Bubble does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ancestry, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital or family status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, pregnancy or caregiver status, veteran status, or any other legally protected status. #J-18808-Ljbffr
