Description

Job Purpose & Position Overview

The Assistant Cook will be responsible for the preparation of foods, cleaning of cooking utensils, assisting in maintaining a clean kitchen and assisting the cook in safe food production and serving the seniors.

Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate the Winnebago Comprehensive Health Care Systems core mission, vision and value
  • Follow Servsafe food practices regarding hygiene, health and safety
  • Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of the preparation and serving area
  • Assist with food preparation duties
  • Assist in preparing food trays for delivery
  • Assist in serving the congregate meal
  • Clean food preparation dishes, pots and pans
  • Operate dishwater to ensure all items are cleaned
  • Carryout special duties as required by the cook or management
  • Assist in the smooth running of the dining room at all times, especially in times of sickness and holidays
  • Food Ordering, temperature control, temperature logs, ordering supplies
  • Attend required company, training and departmental meetings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by direct supervisor
Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Have a physical examination and tuberculin shot annually
  • Be in good physical health
  • Have a personality that is conductive to working with the elderly and a variety of personalities
  • Attend training or workshops as required
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Prior to employment must pass a background check

Physical Requirements:
  • Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.

  • Reading, writing, calculating
  • Above average social interaction skills
  • Reasoning/Analysis
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team
  • Works with minimal to no supervision
Language Requirements:
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
  • All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
