Transplant Administrator

Directs and coordinates the administrative, financial, regulatory, compliance and marketing activities of the transplant services. Assumes responsibility for the overall administrative supervision of services delivered to all kidney, kidney-pancreas and pancreas transplant patients; and the development of departmental policies and procedures, standards of practice and performance improvement activities.
Responsibilities Develops and oversees the section and transplant program budgets. Assumes responsibility for the oversight and management of the organ acquisition portion of the Medicare cost report; including ensuring systems and processes are in place to maximize the costs captured while remaining in compliance with Medicare guidelines. Assumes responsibility for the oversight and management of contracts with our various payers including involvement in the updating and negotiating of these contracts, identification of new networks, development of strategic relationships with key administrative leaders with the payer community. Assumes responsibility for the direct supervision of all personnel within the section of Transplant Surgery; including hiring, daily supervision, and terminating when needed, with particular attention to orientation, and ongoing education of the staff regarding section policy and procedure. Assumes responsibility for ensuring that all personnel who care for transplant patients are oriented and ongoing education is provided, regarding the policies and procedures of the program. Manages the daily operations of the program. Develops, manages, and maintains the policies and procedures of the program. Ensures the policies and procedures are followed within the section. Assumes responsibility for the oversight and management of the program's quality assurance/process improvement program. Sets the goals for the program, collects the data on a regular basis, reviews the data, and makes decisions regarding improvements. Reports on the quality and volumes data of the program to various regulatory agencies and insurance payers. Responsible for the ongoing marketing activities of the section. Acts as a representative of the Transplant Program, both within the organization and to outside agencies (i.e. UNOS, NEOB, BWH Tissue Typing Lab, etc.). Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related healthcare experience with a minimum of 3 years of direct experience in a transplant program management position.
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Business or Health Administration preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills, including ability to collaborate fully with physicians, staff and hospital departments
- Knowledge of the reporting, compliance and financial nuisances of transplant is beneficial.
