Key Duties & Responsibilities for the Maintenance Engineer: Oversee maintenance operations across the factory. Address breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime. Conduct repairs during production, alone or in teams, focusing on effectiveness. Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) proactively. Achieve plant uptime and maintenance KPIs. Introduce machinery and site enhancements. Manage engineering time efficiently. Ensure tool and equipment safety and cleanliness. Adhere to technical protocols and GMP. Maintain tidy workspaces, following hygiene standards. Uphold Health and Safety standards. Log daily engineering reports. Assist in stock management. Complete work orders promptly. Coordinate with contractors. Requirements for the Maintenance Engineer: Minimum 3 years of engineering experience. Multi-skilled with NVQ Level 3 or higher in electrical or mechanical engineering. Nationally recognised apprenticeship in engineering and 18th Edition Certification. Proactive approach to fault finding and commitment to continuous improvement. Ability to work independently with knowledge, discipline, and initiative. Practical and team-oriented attitude towards engineering challenges. Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in MS Office and PPM systems, with understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings. Flexible and logical approach to work, demonstrating a sense of urgency for continuous improvement. Strong decision-making skills. Essential experience in the food industry. Exposure to mixers, pulverisers, grinders advantageous. Extensive breakdown analysis experience. Health and Safety/Basic Food Hygiene training. Experience in managing on-site contractors. Flexible with start/finish times to align with production requirements. Willingness to work extra hours in busy periods to meet business and customer needs.
