Position Overview The Program Coordinator for Student Learning and Risk Reduction in Fraternity and Sorority Life plays a pivotal role within the university's Student Affairs team, aligning with the mission and vision of the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life. This position oversees support for chapter holistic learning and education that aligns with the Community Standards chapter requirements including but not limited to civic and community engagement, belonging, and holistic wellness. This role supports risk management training surrounding alcohol awareness and education, hazing prevention strategies, bystander intervention and sexual/physical violence prevention. Assessment and evaluation of programs and offerings is a requirement for this role. SFL has twelve full-time professionals and graduate assistant(s). Office Overview SFL has eight full-time professionals and four graduate assistant(s). The Program Coordinator for Student Learning and Risk Reduction reports to the Assistant Director for Student Learning and Well Being of Sorority & Fraternity Life. The Program Coordinator assists SFL with its mission to empower members of the sorority and fraternity community in expression of their respective organizations' values through the embodiment of community shared values. As a part of the SFL staff, the Program Coordinator works to assist SFL in meeting its commitment to support, lead, engage and inform, through program development, community initiatives, implementation, assessment and community promotion. There is a commitment to continued professional development for staff members. Job Description 50% Curriculum Building, Educational Programming, Training Development and Support: Develop, facilitate and assess risk prevention and management educational opportunities for individual established chapters, chapter and council leadership, and community wide workshops. Assist SFL leaders and staff in developing strategies to address community concerns and issues. Collaborates with various Student Affairs departments to plan and implement active and passive programming for National Hazing Prevention Week, Sexual Violence Awareness Month and other awarenesses opportunities. Maintain knowledge and understanding of national risk reduction and management trends and approaches within higher education. Serve as a facilitator for the Jayhawks Give a Flock bystander intervention program and other Division of Student Affairs prevention based programs. Serve as a resource for students, parents/families, faculty, staff, and community and headquarters partners on issues related to sorority and fraternity life. 30% Assessment and Evaluation Manage and compile hazing prevention education provided by the office to ensure compliance with Stop Campus Hazing Act in collaboration with Student Conduct and Community Standards staff. Track current national and local trends and chapter/council needs related to risk prevention and holistic wellness programming and conduct reports (including Student Conduct and Community Standards and Council specific reports). Implement and review surveys for the SFL community and conduct data analysis to identify trends, areas of improvement, risk reduction, or holistic wellness needs of the community. Collaborate with SFL staff on the Sorority & Fraternity Life Community Standards tracking and annual reporting process. Contribute to the overall Student Affairs assessment efforts and reporting. Continually monitor best practices in the SFL field and assist in implementation where appropriate. 15% Partnership Development Build partnerships with campus departments to support risk reduction education. Works with SFL departmental staff to develop a holistic wellness programmatic and educational plan annually. Establish and maintain collegial relationships and collaborations with chapter/graduate advisors, inter/national headquarters, and university/community stakeholders. Collaborate with council and chapter leaders to create and execute community-sponsored events for the SFL community. 5% Other Duties Serve on Division and University committees external to Sorority and Fraternity Life when asked. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree with three years of related experience. Minimum of one-year full time experience advising fraternities/sororities or student organizations on a college campus or related responsibilities. (Two years as a graduate assistant equals one year of professional experience.) Excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by application materials and interview processes This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position.
