Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Provide supervisory assistance, support and job knowledge to the various front office positions.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Includes, but is not limited to the following.)
  1. Supervise day-to-day activities of the front desk clerks, and rack clerks;
  2. Perform pre-shift briefings for all front desk personnel;
  3. Handle any Guest complaints/problems;
  4. Assist with group and VIP arrivals/departures;
  5. Review and make recommendations with regard to scheduling;
  6. Act as the liaison between the other front office departments with regard to requests for service from the hotel guests;
  7. Monitor rooms available and the placement of Guests;
  8. Recommend and assist with the implementation of policies and procedures;
  9. Maintain established procedures of the front desk;
  10. Monitor clerk overages and shortages;
  11. Train new and existing front desk clerks;
  12. Assist Guest services area when required;
  13. Ensure area is neat and fully stocked as the end of shift;
  14. Perform periodic reviews and counseling of employees as needed;
  15. Achieve daily maximum occupancy levels;
  16. Maintain cohesive and pleasant working environment and remain open to comments and criticisms from co-workers and management.
  17. Perform other job related duties as assigned by management.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English. Ability to perform basic math functions; use ten-key and computer equipment; supervise and guide staff towards daily goals and objectives; maintain effective working relationships with staff; deal effectively with the public; work flexible hours. Skill in decision-making. Understand and comply with all company and departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: High school education or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Minimum 3 years Front Desk operation experience required.

Certificate/License: None required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment. Work may be performed in areas, which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky, dimly lit or brightly illuminated. Contact with staff is necessary. TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: (May be required in order to perform the essential functions of the position). Position requires Team Member to enter & exit from the Team Member entrance which entails 2 flights of stairs. Requires mobility; constant standing or sitting; frequent use of office equipment, such as multi-line telephone system, computer, calculator, fax machine and copy machine; reaching of up to 24 inches; ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols; normal vision range and absence of color blindness.
