Company Description

As the Director of Operations for a family-owned HVAC company, you will oversee all aspects of our company's operational activities, from company growth to project execution and client/vendor services. Working closely with the management team, you will develop and implement strategic initiatives to streamline processes, optimize efficiency, and maximize profitability. Your leadership and expertise will be instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Job Description

Business Growth and Operations
  • Visionary for the company to ensure continued growth and profitability.
  • Develop a business plan, communicate the plan to employees, monitor results, and celebrate the wins.
  • Maintain company culture.
People, Leadership, and Development
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize operational efficiency and achieve business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of operational staff, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
  • Develop special EE items like "Key Person" agreements, training agreements, and employee development plans in tandem with department leads.
  • Establish and monitor measurable and attainable key performance indicators (KPIs). Track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure employee hiring and development align with the company's core values and growth objectives.
  • Lead internal company communication and training. Schedule meetings and training, produce agendas and content, and lead company meetings and training.
  • Top-level problem resolution for company issues.
Financial
  • Responsible for growing profitability and EBITDA.
  • Create, execute, and adhere to budget.
  • Financial oversight and review. Set and communicate operational direction and lead related change management.
  • Manage company insurance coverages and plans with the Business Manager.
  • Manage company 401K plan with the Business Manager.
  • Insurance renewals with the Business Manager.
  • Manage wages, raises, bonuses, etc.
Sales
  • Inside selling.
    • Price structures and updates.
    • Employee sales compensation and spiff plans.
    • Commissioned sales agreements and structure for full-time salesmen.
Products and Purchasing
  • Oversight of all product offerings/selection
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements to ensure all products and pricing are consistently relevant.
  • Work with purchases and orders.
  • Negotiate all purchase and rebate programs and agreements with outside suppliers.
  • Produce company correspondence to outside entities, such as builders, customers, manufacturers, vendors, etc., including problem resolution, litigation, price increase letters, and builder-requested documents.
  • Serve on technical groups/boards and product development teams, such as Honeywell, Lennox, Aprilaire, DAC, and Resideo.
  • Attend dealer meetings from Lennox, vendors, or manufacturers to gain insight into the market, trends, new products, new offerings, and industry movement and to establish direction.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field is a plus. Will consider experience in place of degree.
  • Proven track record of success in operations management within the HAVC or related industry in the trades.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence.
  • Exceptional financial, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in strategic planning, project management, and process improvement methodologies.
