Occupational Therapist Position at Wellington Regional Medical Center Wellington Regional Medical Center is a 235-bed, acute care hospital located in Wellington, Florida. The occupational therapist at Wellington Regional Medical Center is responsible for providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment of performance components affecting functioning and to provide goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum level of independence to clients suffering from disability, disease or injury. The therapist organizes, conducts, and elevates medically prescribed occupational therapy programs to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part. The therapist helps patients reach their maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within their capabilities. The therapist also directs and supervises occupational therapist assistants and students. The therapist recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calls a stroke alert overhead. The therapist verbalizes the stroke alert process. Consults and assessments/reassessments will be performed and documented within 24 hours of admission or when feasible once the patient is medically stable. The therapist maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the annual 4 hours online training. Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from a University program satisfying the AOTA Academic and intern requirements for competence, a valid Florida State license, and BLS certification through the AHA.
