Description

Texas Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a dynamic Program Manager who will oversee a collection of related/integrated projects that together support a long-term research initiative. This position strategically guides one or more research group leaders and related technical staff to ensure they are all working effectively toward the program's stated objectives.

THE ROLE:
•Serve as main point of contact and liaison between internal and external stakeholders (e.g., principal investigators, program sponsors, organizational leadership and research project teams). Establish and maintain effective working relationships on matters of mutual interest. Track and report on progress and outcomes.
•Manage key program elements, including but not limited to goals and milestones, risks, available resources, budgets, standard operating procedures, quality control, and results. Identify project interdependencies, aligning resources and efforts where appropriate.
•Supervise, advise and guide research group leaders and technical staff throughout the program lifecycle, focusing on the strategic direction of the projects. Take corrective action as needed.
•Support and participate in planning, creation and submission of proposals, agreements and manuscripts as requested.
•Preparing status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information.
•Conduct post-project evaluation and identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
•Interact with graduate students and post-docs in a mentoring capacity

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
•Required: Doctoral degree. Business Administration or Life Sciences field of study preferred.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•General awareness of federal budget processes and fundamental principles of project management. Budget management experience preferred.
•Solid interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing, build and maintain teams, and identify and resolve problems
•Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to meet deadlines
•Working knowledge of a variety of software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, proposal/project tracking, and data analysis software
•Prior experiences in the life sciences strongly preferred
•Ideal candidates would have training in basic virology techniques, including cell culture, virus propagation, microscopy, cloning, and animal models of infection
