Ideal timeframe to Interview - ASAP
Location: 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in Office) - Open to Kansas City or Topeka. If Topeka - Have to commit to someone in Kansas City, MO. Open to relocation budget.

This opportunity is looking for a resource to work within Regulatory Accounting creating models and adjustments and work directly with the commission staff for this utility corporation. This role would have 2 direct reports and is looking for someone to join for long-term advancement into leadership.

Required Qualifications:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree with an Accounting/Finance major and preferred qualification as a CPA.
  • Has a minimum of 8 years relevant technical accounting and reporting experience in the utility industry or public accounting experience including FERC Form 1 and 3-Q financial reporting preparation, research and compliance. Includes a strong emphasis in regulated operational accounting aspects and revenue requirement modeling.
  • Preferred qualifications include supervisory/project management experience, an advanced degree and energy industry experience.
  • Must possess familiarity with large-scale integrated accounting systems, as well as, significant proficiency with Excel and Word based applications.
  • Successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Successful candidate must possess and maintain a Passport and be eligible for North American travel.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certification from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (CCEP) (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities:
  • Leads regulatory projects that vary in size, complexity, and may have compressed timelines.
  • Stays informed of regulatory trends and maintains a working knowledge of the electric utility industry.
  • Provide guidance to Company personnel concerning regulatory matters. Make recommendations for changes/additions/deletions to existing rates, rules, and regulations or other regulatory matters.
  • Support efforts associated with responding to regulators' staff and stakeholder data requests.
  • Ensures timely processing of information to meet regulatory requirements and minimize negative impacts to rates, costs, and the Company's reputation.
  • Identifies priority issues; works to guide regulation to protect the best interests of Company's customers and stakeholders and corporate standing in the communities it serves.
  • The work is multifaceted and challenging; a working knowledge of the electric utility business is important; ability and willingness to continue to expand that understanding and to learn about new, unfamiliar, and emerging issues that may affect our partners is essential.
