CIRCOR Naval Solutions started in 1897 under Warren Pumps®, following a legacy of pump builders in whose origin span over 200 years in the town of Warren. Under CIRCOR Naval Solutions this division is best known for serving the U.S. Navy’s submarine and surface ship programs. The highly engineered and custom-built pumps are made of a wide variety of exotic materials and span an envious range of both centrifugal and positive displacement technologies. Every submarine and aircraft carrier in the U.S. fleet as well as many other U.S. naval vessels depends on the pumps manufactured at Warren.

CIRCOR Portland Valve was organized in 1973, originating in Portland Maine and moved its operations to Warren, Massachusetts at the end of 2011. CIRCOR Portland Valve is a major valve supplier on the Submarine & Destroyer programs. The company’s products include a broad range of specialized valves for various shipboard services.

POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

Reporting to the Sr Supply Chain Manager, the Principal Supplier Performance Engineer develops and manages the supply base for CIRCOR Naval Solutions, with a focus on casting quality, supplier selection assessments, drives sample part development, manages supplier performance – Quality & Delivery, drives supplier improvement programs. In this role, your focus commodities will be on Castings and Fabrication, to support CIRCOR's supplier base. Note the level of this role is dependent on experience.

Principal Activities

  • Manage supplier quality activities per CIRCOR standard processes in sourcing function.
  • Evaluate suppliers and support supplier onboarding process per commodity strategy.
  • Drive Technical feasibility reviews, process reviews and create part information sheet to support sourcing projects.
  • Drive sample developments process and ensure suppliers are meeting customer, drawing and specification requirements – First Article Approvals.
  • Perform supplier audits, production process validation and process approvals at supplier end per project plan.
  • Manage supplier performance – Quality and Delivery, continuous improvement initiatives both from a strategic and tactical perspective. Handle supplier non-conformances connect with site Quality and Supplier to drive RCCA.
  • Drive supplier performance improvement projects and improve supplier performance levels.
  • Support New Product launch, Supplier transitions & Engineering change management processes.
  • Train suppliers on best practices, CIRCOR training module like problem solving and Quality Clinic System.
  • Work with internal customers (Business Units) – Quality, Engineering and Supply chain team to support sourcing transition projects and drive supplier improvements.
  • Closely working with Sourcing commodity team to achieve sourcing goals.
  • Establish a strong network and foster collaboration with suppliers, key stakeholders, customers, sites and category team members.
  • Key metrics include: First Article Approvals, Supplier Quality – DPPM, Supplier OTD (project and production), Supplier performance metrics improvements, and support sourcing team metrics and projects.

Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics discipline) or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree with a mix of experience specific to low volume / high mix manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5, preferably 10, years of relevant experience in Supplier Quality Management/Strategic Sourcing, with a focus on Casting production and quality in the aerospace, defense (Navy is preferred), or high-tech industries (preferably low volume / high mix manufacturing environment).
  • Experience performing complete root cause/corrective and / or preventive action as related to supplier performance.
