The Precertification Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks regarding verifying, checking eligibility of benefits, and obtaining authorization for patients, activating patient files, and for providing support to patients and medical staff. Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Obtaining precertification's from insurance for testing and procedures.
  • Explain financial requirements to patients; collect and record copays as required.
  • Manage incoming tasks and completing them on time and efficiently. Managing the tasks that are due now and in the future.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
  • Effectively communicating with surgery scheduler, physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinical and non clinical staff within the office.
  • Provide back up support to OB pre certification specialist.
  • Promptly and professionally answers telephone calls (as well as retrieve messages that are received viaanswering service). Route calls appropriately, offering voicemail, paging, or redirection of calls as needed.
  • Schedule patient appointments per guidelines given, and finalize patient schedules for previous day.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all patients.
  • Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies through HIPAA compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
