Job Description

Purpose:

The Wellness Program Coordinator at NYC Health + Hospitals will play a crucial role in the Helping Healers Heal (H3) program, focusing on proactive and preventative wellness for staff across all departments, with a particular emphasis on Behavioral Health Services. Operating under the guidance of the Wellness Program Director and in collaboration with the System Chief Wellness Officer, this individual will oversee the coordination, crisis support, and the implementation and improvement of wellness programs. They will work on-site and in close partnership with the Central Office, emphasizing the organizational commitment to the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Wellness Program Coordinator / Licensed Creative Arts Therapist] is charged with and responsible for:
•Support Behavioral Health Services preventative and proactive staff wellness approach (including wellness events, wellness rounds, and emotional debriefs).
•Facilitate Violence Prevention trainings such as Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations (PMCS) trainings within Behavioral Health Services and eventually, facility wide PMCS trainings.
•Provide wellness outreach calls to staff on leave or with extended absences.
•Provide post-code response, ensuring staff prioritize their well-being after a code using process, reflection, and other psychological and emotional interventions.
•Respond to workplace violence incidents, providing wellness support for staff involved in situations of physical, verbal, emotional, or spiritual violence.
•Deploy and track ISP utilization across Behavioral Health Services to survey staff burnout.
•Demonstrate effectiveness in planning, organizing, and managing the ongoing operation of employee wellness at assigned facility / service line.
•Strategic planning associated with health and wellness programs and overall embedding and fostering of wellness culture; facilitate the strategy and process to launch new programs based on the 8 Dimensions of Well-being across the facility/service line.
•Provide emotional debriefs, a 1:1 or group conversation with a focus on reflection, to foster a supportive and safe environment for all employees to connect and engage in emotional and
•psychological processing; minimum of 20 wellness encounters (1:1/group debriefs and wellness events) per month across all tours.
•Prep, plan, and facilitate wellness events that align to the 8 Dimensions of Well-being that are customized to services, settings, departments, and disciplines using group techniques.
•Facilitates proactive and preventative wellness rounds equitably throughout their assigned facility.
•Support wellness room awareness, utilization, satisfaction, and maintenance.
•Track all encounters on a monthly basis, enter pertinent information into the quality assurance program portal, and provide qualitative and quantitative data-based insights on facility/service line-specific utilization of the H3 program to key stakeholders.
•Assist in coordination, planning, and facilitation of wellness activities, celebratory events, and recognition programs for employees.
•Proactive wellness and real-time crisis support for employees; assist in the development of facility-based crisis plans for employees.
•Lead and facilitate, in concert with H3 Lead and Wellness Program Director, department meetings to embed unit-based wellness programming and improvement cycles.
•Utilize data to facilitate PDSA cycles and to make targeted wellness interventions for clinical and non-clinical disciplines across departments.
•Plan and implements trainings, speakers, seminars, and custom in-services that promote overall awareness and wellbeing of employees.
•Provides discipline & service-based wellness education and report-outs (e.g. resident orientation, grand rounds, M&Ms, Town Hall, departmental meetings, executive meetings, etc.).
•Participate in service recovery surrounding staff well-being after sentinel events as well as risk management cases while ensuring the facility/service line are equipped to provide the necessary confidential wellness support to their staff in times of need.
•Ensure wellness programming is spread across the facility/service line equitably while establishing access across tours, weekends, and holidays by overseeing facility-specific H3 teams and programs.
•Regularly evaluate the program components to improve employee satisfaction when utilizing services and identify new opportunities via continuous monitoring of nationwide, city, and state trends and best practices; partner with external organizations as needed.
•Active participation in facility and system-wide steering team meetings.
•Facilitate Peer Support Champion Trainings and support PSC engagement and retention.
•Flexible scheduling to accommodate equitable wellness programming (e.g., weekends, nights, holidays) with manager discretion.
•All other duties as assigned by the manager.
•Perform all duties in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and behavioral expectations of NYC Health + Hospitals.

Minimum Qualifications

Assignment Level I
1. A valid License or Limited Permit issued by the New York State Education Department to practice as a Creative Arts Therapist. Employees working with a Limited Permit must obtain
Licensure within two years from their date of appointment.
Assignment Level II
1. A valid License issued by the New York State Education Department to practice as a
Creative Arts Therapist; and
2. Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience in creative arts therapy.
Assignment Level III
In addition to meeting the requirements for Assignment Levels II, Assignment Level III
requires:
1. One additional year of experience

Department Preferences
•Knowledge and experience related to project management techniques and project planning activities.
•Demonstrated interest/experience in staff wellness.
•Ability to facilitate group experiential exercises, team building techniques, and open processing of emotional and psychological content.
