Good Shepherd, Inc.; a senior living community in the Mason City, IA area is seeking a skilled HR Director to lead our HR department and oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in HR best practices, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong understanding of HR processes.
Duties:
· Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as accreditation standards and best practices.
· Manage the full cycle of recruitment, selection, orientation, and onboarding of new staff, ensuring a diverse and qualified talent pool.
· Coordinate and facilitate staff training and development programs, including mandatory and optional courses, workshops, seminars, and conferences.
· Conduct and oversee performance appraisals, feedback sessions, coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and terminations, in accordance with Good Shepherd's policies and procedures.
· Handle employee complaints, grievances, and disputes, and provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors on employee relations issues.
· Administer and monitor employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, employee assistance programs, and workers compensation.
· Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and files and ensure compliance with reporting and documentation requirements.
· Prepare and analyze HR reports and metrics and provide recommendations for improvement and innovation.
· Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in HR and participate in professional networks and associations.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
· At least five years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a health care or long-term care setting.
· Professional HR certification, such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP, preferred.
· Knowledge of HR laws and regulations, such as FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
· Knowledge of the Affirmative Action Plan process
· Knowledge of the Workers Compensation process
· Skills in HR management, leadership, communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
· Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, including staff, residents, families, and external partners.
· Proficiency in MS Office and HR software applications.
