About the Role: CAIR-LA is seeking a Senior Grant Writer to join a dynamic, mission-driven team. The Senior Grant Writer will drive efforts to secure vital funding that empowers CAIR-LA to create meaningful impact in BAMEMSA communities around the Greater Los Angeles area. This position will be responsible for crafting compelling grant proposals, building and nurturing relationships with funders, and ensuring that our programs and departments have the financial support needed to thrive and expand. We are looking for someone experienced in grant writing who embodies a sense of initiative, ownership, resourcefulness, and a solution-oriented mindset.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Research, identify, and cultivate grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and corporate sources.
- Prepare well-researched, persuasive grant proposals and applications in alignment with CAIR-LA's mission and goals based on the funding requirements.
- Submit proposals and reports to special projects manager for approval.
- Monitor grant timelines and deliverables, ensuring compliance with grant agreements.
- Support completion of grant reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submission of reports to funders.
- Maintain a system for document tracking, follow up on grant deliverables, and submit reports as required on a timely basis.
- Increase grant funding income from existing and new institutional relationships.
- Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
- Work closely with program staff to collect and compile data and information for reporting purposes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and potential funding opportunities.
- Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
- Support with other Special Projects objectives as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree in English, communications, creative writing, or related area is required.
- Three plus years of experience in grant writing is required.
- A proven track record of successfully securing grants is required.
- A record of measurable results in securing grant funding
- Ability to research and understand programs and funding requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to write persuasive proposals is required.
- Ability to study and understand programs, funding requirements, and organizational needs.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines.
- Must have strong initiative and demonstrate the ability to learn in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a rapidly growing organization.
