Build Your Career, Impact Your Community, Join Our Colonial Family POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Operations Excellence is responsible for the strategic planning and direction of operations and projects within an organization by improving business processes and culture. Key duties and responsibilities include overseeing the collection, analysis and reporting of data, overseeing and leading teams to achieve business goals, and managing the development and execution of operational procedures. He / She will consult with business unit leadership and other departments to design and implement programs for improving efficiency, enhancing safe operations, and reducing waste. Additional duties may include emergency response and acquisition diligence for the company/division when applicable. JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES In partnership with division operations leadership and corporate safety, ensures that the company complies with health, safety, environmental, and training (HSET) regulatory matters affecting the company/division Creates and implements programs, processes, and procedures to meet internal, customer and regulatory requirements Creates a culture of continuous improvement across all areas of the organization in order to maximize / optimize efficiency and productivity Consults with business unit leadership to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and reducing waste Develops metrics to measure operational excellence inclusive of employee, customer, and safety ratings Assists other operating divisions as needed on HSET internal and external requirements Manages regulatory waste and disposal processes (if applicable) Coordinates, creates, and delivers updated relevant training (HSE and operational) and certifications to meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements Manages or assists customer site audits for safety related issues Audits all operational systems/processes/procedures for ongoing effectiveness Reports regularly to leadership and operating units on HSET/operational plan effectiveness Conducts field safety audits of drivers, loading racks, equipment and customer sites regularly Works with internal and external customers to improve field/site safety Leads incident investigations as needed to uncover root causes, corrective actions, and follow up reporting of effectiveness On scene Emergency Management of major/catastrophic incidents Support company media interactions as directed by Senior Leadership (if / when applicable) Constantly improves operational manuals / procedures / training as market and regulatory climate changes Must be willing to be on call 24/7/365 days of the year for emergency related issues Supports M&A diligence and integration activities as needed Project management for key operations initiatives including but not limited to system implementations and annual certification programs Other tasks, projects, or assignments as requested by management. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Must have Bachelor’s Degree in related field 10 years work experience in industry. 10 years managerial and supervisory experience Strong career demonstrating and applying skill of communication, analysis, problem-solving, leadership and collaboration Experience in program creation, management, implementation, and effectiveness reporting Willingness to travel 50% or as required by the business Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
