You will providestrategic, trusted consultation and thought leadership on employeematters to maintain positive and effective employment relationshipsthroughout the company. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Works on avariety of complex, high-risk employee relations issues, includingadvising on Northwestern Mutual\'s policies, practices, how to addressworkplace issues, reorganizations, performance management, andcoaching/development. Using knowledge of applicable employment laws aswell as our policies and practices, independently leads or serves as atrusted subject matter expert on a variety of strategic projects relatedto Employee Relations that impact enterprise-wide philosophy and/orpolicy. Independently lead complex investigations and partner with otherteams to ensure that investigations/disciplinary processes are handledin a fair, timely manner including assessing and documenting bestpractices for investigations. Provides thought leadership to drive bestpractices for employee relations Develops and implements training,tools, systems, and templates for Employee Relations, embedded HR and/orpeople leaders to facilitate effective execution of employee/laborrelations strategies and practices across the organization. May beresponsible for the development and delivery of HR\'s responses -including proposed policy updates - to regulatory changes and inquiriesfrom agencies including the EEOC, ERD, Homeland Security, and DOL. Maylead, with partnership from legal counsel, the efforts to comply withvarious federal or state legal or regulatory reporting and/or trainingrequirements. This includes, but is not limited to EEOC, affirmativeactions, VETS, EEO-1, Illinois Equal Pay reporting, California violenceprevention, etc.Provides counsel to embedded HR and to business leaderson escalated issues Qualifications Minimum of 7 years of human resourcesexperience including a Bachelor\'s degree in HR or an equivalentcombination of education and progressively responsible work experience.Excellent consultative, interpersonal/influencing skills, including theability to build trusted advisor relationships and stakeholdersuccessfully across the organization. Ability to lead and engage inconstructive dialogue, willingness to offer or to hear new andpotentially challenging ideas to foster conversation and criticalthinking, ability to deliver difficult / complex messages and helpothers understand multiple points of view to drive outcomes.
